I know! The title is very confusing isn't it! But it's all about a new website that is proving to be very helpful for affiliate marketers and SEO's today.
IFTTT.com (IF This Then That) is a site you can use to set up all sorts of simple or complicated things (recipes) that can happen if something else happens.
For instance, you could set one up that says, if its raining in New York tomorrow between 1PM and 3PM then send me an email or create a tweet about it.
Of course, that's a very simple recipe. Another more intricate and useful one might be to do something like, save photos a Facebook #hashtag to your Dropbox account. Or create a tweet any time a certain #hashtag is mentioned and then save it as an Evernote note.
And obviously, there are much more advanced recipes that you can create that can help you as a marketer to automate the same mundane, tedious and repetitive tasks that you do. In fact, if you search Google for "ifttt for seo" or "ifttt for marketers" you will find some guides that contain recipes you can set up using IFTTT to automate your marketing tasks.
There are just too many to list here and all have their own take or spin on it. I just keep seeing it being mentioned more and more on Facebook and Twitter by IM's and SEO's today that are using it to automate and upscale their marketing task.
But do you have any experience of using IFTTT? Can it be used to help promote your own SEOClerks gigs or affiliate URL? I'm hoping to learn more about this site in the coming weeks ahead and do some experiments with it using some of the guides and recipes that are out there for it to see how effective it can be. Hopefully by then, I'd have learned enough about it and be clued up enough to post some IFTTT recipes in the new Tutorials and Guides FAQ section. In the meantime, let the knowledge flow!
Cheers!
Beverly
