There's been a slight trend away from social media influencers recently, especially with the bad press that came with a few bad eggs. Is it still worth it to try and court customers by hiring influencers to promote your product? Are we better off with general advertisement?

I'm so over the term influencer. If you do decide to use one I'd try and ensure they actually fit your image and brand. Nothing worse than hiring someone who is clearly paid to shill your product and would never in a million years be affiliated with your company if they weren't getting paid for it. Personally? I don't think so. I feel like every second person these days brands themselves as an "influencer", but do they really have influence? A lot of these so-called Instagram influencers use programs to essentially buy followers, so they overinflate their numbers. It makes them look like people admire them when really they're just an average joe. I'm so over the term influencer.
