How much are you budgeting for this Christmas holidays spending?

No matter how much you try to cut down on your expenses during Christmas holidays, it proves to be a tough job because whether you like it or not, you are definitely going to be forced to spend more either on gifts, food, wears, transportation etc.

In the wake of every Christmas season, how much do you normally budget for all your spending?

Spending is inevitable during the Christmas period since it period of merriment and funfare it's a season of love where we get to share gifts and just want to put radiating smiles on the faces of our friends,family and loved ones and I always believed no money is too big or small for a period like this. Well I do budget between $300-500 though sometimes it even exceed that.

One way or the other one has to spend some cash regardless of the amount that it is to get to the location where other family members are located maybe for a festival or anything of that sort. WIth that comes the buying of gifts.

Right now Zero, actually I'm in the negative zone right now financially and there's 2 days to go before Christmas. I spent all my money buying gifts and holiday supplies. I'm running on plastic right now, probably gonna spend atleast another $400 on credit until New Year.

I grow up without practicing gift giving except on Exchange gift for Christmas party at school. I am imparted with the values of giving cash gift on charity institution and giving foods or groceries on our neighbors. The budget aren't that hard to handle since you can allocate specific amount. Unlike, adapting traditional gift giving with the whole clan would be a problem especially if you run out of money. I know the importance of gift giving especially on this occasion. But sometimes I find it unnecessary to give my family since they have something on their own. It's best to share it with person who has nothing. I am glad to make them happy in one special day with their family.

Your intentions are so good and being so practical and caring for others happiness but you could also give something to your family so they could feel the spirit of Christmas no matter what it is. It doesn't matter that it requires some cash, you could share your efforts by helping them with these king of busy season.

I don't have any guilt feelings when it comes to my family since I always render services to them. They have recognize my effort and I appreciate it. There are also instances that I brought unexpected presence for them with or without occasion. They knew that when I have something I share it with them.

This Christmas, due to financial constraints, I won't be spendig a lot. I was able to make some gifts early this month, so that should count as Christmas gift for others. I'm more interesting in Christmas dinner and would like to spend more on that.

To be honest, same as always. We don't use a holiday as an excuse to give ourselves gifts and spend extra money. As a matter of fact, oddly enough, on holidays we spend the least, because we know that shops are full with people and we don't have to wait in line for too long.

A month month salary which i saved for the whole year. I budget it to but gifts for everyone and then purchase food at home. But watever what was left from my saved up money I will take it back to my savings account then start saving again for the next year's holiday season.

This is pretty nice. I think that it is one way that we can ensure that we don't over spend. Having some set of plans that we want to execute during Christmas is something that is necessary for us to enjoy a better Christmas period.

Wow! Thank you. My friends thinks that I am quite tight about budgeting my expenses. I jusy dont want to do last minute of everything specially when it comes to money. It is always nice to be prepared than to be experience shortage during the holidays.

Everyone is spending money when festive season comes. Some spend more than the others. Sadly, my budget this year is the worst one in years. Yes, I had some jobs but I have to save for my holiday so I will not spend much for Christmas and New Year Eve. Roughly, I would say that my budget is around 50 or 60 dollars.

As much as possible I tend to tightly budget my money whenever I go to parties, reunion with former classmates and going outside with friends. I always see to it that whenever we are about to eat, I always show them and persuade them to eat in what I think is a budget friendly restaurant. I know that spending much during the Christmas season cannot be avoided. Still, it is a good investment because you get to be happy and build stronger connection by spending your time with your family and friends.

You have a good point. You are building for a long last relationship with your friends, because that relationship could last long and not for a short period of time whether christmas season or not, they would always remember you.

I'll probably spend about $200 on Christmas day itself. I have a lot of godsons and goddaughters to entertain. Plus, my mom, she's the one who's going to take a considerable share of that budget, haha!

I'm a wise person and I want to spend my money in a good way today I buy in lazada because of the cashback event and also to give my daughter's gift for Christmas day in this week I spend the money over 200$ for Christmas gifts and I wish also that somebody will gift me ahahahhahah.

Not much, probably the same as any other month because I don't pay attention to holidays and because I only spend money for myself during the holidays and I take advantage of the discounts/sale everywhere which helps minimize my holiday expenses.

Yeah, my thought exactly! We would spend the funds for our family and our quality time, but we wouldn't do something that will make us regret the next time, in terms of finances. I despise sayings like: "yolo", because you gotta think of your future self and those who surround you as well.

Right! I'm not really a fan of that "YOLO" thing, the future is unpredictable. I hate spending money on things that I know I don't need or won't need 2-3 years later. I always keep in mind to spend money on things that are important and that will add value to my life.

Spending was part of our daily lives but we usually spend a lot on Christmas season by buying those gifts for love ones or groceries for a feast at night. I am also a spender when this season comes and I only have those target budget for specific items and I wouldn't buy if the price goes beyond my target.

I'd say I spent about $500 all up on gifts. It's crazy these days how a few things already start seeing your budget rack up pretty substantially. Thankfully I had a few gift cards that I accumulated throughout the year that I used to offset some of the presents cost. That definitely helped! I try to start putting aside a bit of money for Christmas each week, right as the new year starts. That way the cost is much more manageable.

You're right! Putting off a bit of money in preparation for Christmas shopping is a good way to make sure you don't get to overspend and be penniless on Christmas. Another nice thing about it is the added budget, which means everyone gets a gift. I'll try and do that this coming year.

During Christmas season, I really spend a lot. I spend on food, gifts, vacation etc. I don’t really care about money during times like this. For me, being with your loved ones and enjoying every minute of it is the most important thing and not the money. The “happiness” you feel cannot be bought by money. So for me, even if I have to spend a lot, it’s still worth it.

I am hoping to spend the money on the food and the gifts. And the rest of the money should be gone to the saving. And the thing is that investing in this time and then getting the interest later should be the priority. You can see that budgeting does not always works out for many. I hope that near future I don't have to worry about the finances and I save enough money that can help me out in such season.

Yes a lot of money is being spent around the world. I think in January a lot of people are going to be spending less for next few months. But during the christmas there is going to be a lot of spending for sure. It's good to see people happy gifting each other though.

Budgeting and spending wisely goes a long way during Christmas season. I always take note to not spend more than what I've set for gifts. Of course there are times when I save up a lot when I buy gifts extra early. Of course those gifts are the ones that can be stored for months without getting damaged. Buying earlier of course helps with avoiding Christmas rush and the ridiculous prices soaring during the holidays.

As a student, my Christmas budget is usually very minimal. Around $100 is usually enough for all the gifts I'm buying, including the "splurge" items I buy for myself. I save up for Christmas using my allowances since I don't like depending on my parents too much.

I find it hard to save during this season. That's why I'm would look for extra income aside from my regular work. I make it a point as well to follow the formula pay - saving = expenses. This allows me to list down all expenses needed and strategize where to look for lower cost merchandise without sacrificing quality.

We do not have a fixed budget for christmas ..but since its a special day and a day to merry the kind of cash to be used isn't a big deal since its only a day we don't need to be so stingy about the day

I think I will just be spending at around 300 dollars this Christmas as I still need to budget for the new year's celebration. I know that I would be spending a lot this Christmas season since I have many children that I am giving some gifts to make them happy since Christmas is all about giving. It is good to allocate some money this Christmas so that it would not result to overspending which is something that I am trying to avoid for now.

It's the morning of the 24th of December and were preparing for tonight's Christmas Eve Dinner. After all the preparations, we will go malling until about 7pm then go home for a Christmas Feast. So that means I'll have to spend about $50 - $75 in the mall and for gas.

I cannot say how much I budget for the Christmas holidays but I always have my list of gifts to buy and cash to give. In our tradition giving cash for Christmas instead of a gift is acceptable and some people prefer the cash so they can buy what they want. Without a list of the people that I will give can be a disaster because the list contains he amount of budget so that I will not overshoot when I shop for the gifts.

I always make it a habit to have some list of those items that I need to purchase during Christmas day because it can easily help me to monitor my purchases and expenses. I need to budget my limited money because there are still the new year celebration that I need to cater aside from the Christmas season. I really believe that I would be spending more this month because of so much party and celebration that I will make.

I've figured that I'd set aside maybe 15% of what I made during the last month for holiday expenses. As much as I want to splurge for gifts and whatnot, expenses aren't going to magically disappear just because it's Christmas. It's always prudent to have some money set aside for emergencies.
