What do you hate most about email marketing?

When it comes to email marketing, the issue of spams are what I hate so much. Getting bombarded with lots of spam emails is very frustrating and annoying because if you aren't very observant, it may cause you to miss an important mail getting mixed up with the spam mails especially when the some of spam mail fails to drop in the spam folder.

Yeah, I hate that as well, it happened last time to me that I was expecting to receive an email from work, but then I missed the day and when I get back into my email, it has a lot of spam emails mixed up.

I do not like email marketing because it is a spam marketing method. In order to do email marketing, you send marketing emails to the person who even did not subscribe to your product. I have subscribed to a couple of marketing emails because I do not want to miss important contents. However, if I have to sign up for mandatory subscription, I will always unsubscribe the email. I mark the emails that I do not recognize as spam, so that it is easier to delete the unwanted emails.

Thank you for sharing that information to us, I will try to do that as well to get rid with the unwanted emails.

Email marketing is not spam. It is one of the effective method of promotion. And we have to be really understanding of what we can do or don't do with the mail marketing. Buying list and then spamming the mails is one strategy of black hat marketers. But that does not make entire medium as spam.

Perhaps I used the word in a wrong way, however, I truly believe that most of the marketers are using email marketing to spam people who are no actually interested in your product. However, I also believe that of done correctly, email marketing has a great conversion rate. If you send emails to the right person, they will surely check the email. I am interested in IOC and crypto currency and if I receive emails on this topics I will surely check these emails. I am not interested in health supplements and if someone sends me emails about supplements, I will mark them spam.

Yes the black hat marketers are controlling the email lists and they spam the people. So that is one reason why the email marketing is getting bad name. I hope that this way chatbots and android notifications are not getting any bad name. Then again we don't know what may happen in near future for sure.

You are right about spamming and I admit that we were doing that during the time when social media was not around yet. That era was good for email marketing because people respond. Our batting average is more than 20% of the response we get from the emails that we send out. Spamming was already there and known by people but since there is not much communication in the internet so they sometimes take fancy on the spam emails.

I agree with you. Spam emails are really a headache for me. It also causes you to miss the emails that you should receive as you are bombarded with spam emails.

If you are subscribed to different newsletters, you'll probably receive tons of emails every day and spam emails. To make sure that you'll not miss an important email, it's better to create a folder for those important contacts and redirect their emails on that folder. I've done this on my gmail account but I'm sure if this is also works on yahoomail.

That's a good strategy. However, I use different email accounts for different purpose. For instance, I have one email account for website sign up purpose. ON this account I receive most of the marketing emails. I have a different email for work related communication. I use a different email for my financial transaction.

That's a better way to manage emails also. I think that is more organized than just using 1 account only for your emails.

I'll need to do this too. My inbox gets flooded with lots of spam every day which isn't that bad because occasionally something that actually interests me will land in my inbox. Instead of marking these messages as spam I will just create a new email address. It will be specifically used for applying for freelance jobs. This way I'll neither miss out on deals nor spend a lot of time looking through my inbox to find out whether I've got a new job or not.

I think email marketing is a very effective tool in marketing. I also learn alot. I receive emails from people like Neil Patel the Seo specialist. I hate it when people write just for the sake of writing. I hate when they send you emails just to keep you engaged. You are learning in essence nothing from those emails. I think it becomes a waste of time and very annoying. This is the disadvantage subscribing to a list. And one of the disadvantages of email marketing.

Well, I have not subscribed to Neil Patel, however, I have subscribed to a lot of newsletter and I always open these emails. I have subscribed to Freedom With Writing that sends writing tips and ebooks. I have subscribed to Author Publish Mag that sends writing gigs. I have also subscribed to Investopedia to be equipped with investing knowledge. Subscription like these always help in enriching your knowledge.

I hate when companies just send out the same email repeatedly. I get the importance of marketing, but I also think that you've got to mix things up a bit and generate new content if you're trying to attract new customers via email.

Recycling the same email to send out periodically just makes sites look old and redundant.

I'm one of those people who from time to time leave my email on websites so they can send me newsletters or tell me about deals that I might miss out on. However what I hate most is when the people who get my email start sending me irrelevant emails.

What is even worse is when you unsubscribe but the emails keep coming. I only wish that email marketers should understand that the quickest way to lose somebody who might have turned out to be a loyal customer is to keep trying to sell them things they don't want to buy.

What I hate is that some of the people have miused the email marketing. And a lot of them are just making it harder for others to get into. For example some mail marketing companies are buying the email list. And then they are like bombarding to the list. This way it can be seriously harder to work with the people who are trying to launch genuine business. Such lists need to be handled.

Buying email list is not that cool. I mean you may be wasting time to send those messages to those that won't need it for anything. I think that people that are into email marketing should try to reach out to those that have interest in what they are selling.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes there seems to be a lot of business that are buying the list. And then email marketing seem to be pure game of spam. And that needs to be addressed. And it should be taken care of properly. I think that's what we all have to understand when we subscribe to wrong set of lists.

I get a lot of it that annoys me and a lot of those emails telling me I owe people I do not owe money, mone. It puts me off doing my own campaign as I think people will just miss what I am doing. It also seems a good way to annoy your friends. There has never been an occassion I bought anything this way at all so I wonder why it is used so much. I wish I could think of a way that made the genuine stand out from the lists sold. Maybe it should be illegal to sell such lists?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Jeane
Many of the people who sell email lists are blackhat marketers. They use scraping tools to find emails wherever they can on the net and sell these to anyone, mostly people who are just as unscrupulous as them. That is why even if it was illegal to sell email lists since those who sell them and those who buy them are "crooked" I doubt it would make a difference.

Oh! Honestly this is my first time hearing about the term. Blackchat marketers alone sounds not good to me.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Black hat marketing is all about making money fast.

These marketers will use any means: foul, unethical or illegal to make money. If they have to deceive or manipulate potential customers to buy what they are selling, they'll do it.

Spamming is one thing that I hate about email marketing. I think some companies and site owners are pushing it so hard to their subscribers. I do not find any meaningful reason why an email marketer should keep on sending me an email with the same content over and over again. Also, I get annoyed whenever I subscribe and I keep on receiving an email almost every other hour.

Some of these email marketers are so annoying, but the worst is unsubscribing and you still keep on receiving emails. Irrespective of how good or helpful your site is, I will definitely mark the email as spam. Good email marketers should send emails after a set duration, and when they have important points to make.

There are messages that I get on KY email and I wonder the reason the are sending that kind of message to me. If those doing email marketing can add some spice to it, I think it is going to help so much on that front as well.

Regardless of how great your e-mail marketing is, a few people are going to want to unsubscribe. Perhaps they don't work within the equal industry anymore. Maybe they moved and your e-mail marketing caters to people in a selected location. Or maybe they simply have too many emails. Regardless of the purpose, there is nothing more irritating than scrolling to the bottom of an e-mail and not seeing an choice to unsubscribe.

I guess that what most people hate about receiving a marketing emails. Everybody gets annoyed whenever their email account had too much spams email from one sender. I usually brought it to my spams messages so it would not mixed in my important messages. Whenever I received new emails from new sender and it is obviously not so important matter, I immediately brought it to spam folder and set the email as spam so whenever they'll send another one again next time I won't see it in my primary inbox.

I agree with you. Who live spam emails anyway? No one. People sign up because they want to connect to people in the right way, not to be bothered by annoying spam mails.

That is very true it is often very irritating to receive these spam emails in your inbox. Your important emails do get mixed up with the spam emails and you have to take an extra effort to find the emails that are relevant to you. The guys who send these emails don't even know whether you are likely to buy the products that they are trying to promote through there mail and often send emails that are completely unrelated to you

I am using Yahoo mail since a long time ago and it is efficient when it comes to tagging emails as spam. When you receive a spam email in your inbox, tag it as spam and it will be moved to the Spam folder. Subsequent emails from that origin will automatically go to the Spam folder which is a way of not cluttering the inbox with unimportant emails. I check the Spam folder once in a while because sometimes there are spam emails that are interesting too.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Well, with GMail, I'm glad that Google provided a Spam folder so spam messages would be directed there. But, what I don't understand is that why are some of the emails that I'm expecting are being sent there?
