If you've been in business for a while, you likely know how important repeat business is for your profits at the end of the day, so you treat your customers like actual people in order to keep them coming back. You'd be surprised how many people don't focus on return business, so many that it's likely why a lot of businesses fail within the first 5 years, and that just boggles my mind. Successful businesses all around the world are treating their customers in a way that almost guarantees they will come back for a second, third, and maybe even a 10th order. Think about all the loyalty programs out there that help bring in repeat business solely because the person gets a free appetizer or discount on their 10th visit lol.
In this discussion, I'll be going over a few things you need to focus on if you want to build up your sales through repeat business, and they are:
Always tell the truth to your customers
No matter what the customer is asking, you can't be the "YES" man and tell them what they want to hear. You need to tell them the truth, even if it isn't what they want to hear at that moment, and they will trust you because of it.
Trust goes a long way in the online world as well as physical businesses. If a person trusts a business, they will likely tell their friends about it and they will always come back for more orders of what you're selling.
Content helps build relationships with visitors
If you're running a great content marketing campaign, you'll likely be posting plenty of articles on your website which will get read by your visitors. People want to see your website with massive amounts of content because it shows you're a professional in the field and you know what you're talking about.
If you do this step just right, you can pair up your on-page optimization as well as your content marketing efforts, and you will be able to rank and bank quicker than if you just focused on one thing at a time
Starting a relationship builds trust with visitors
You need to talk with everyone that expresses interest in your business. If you're not doing this, they will likely go over to your competitors who ARE talking to them, and they will make a purchase over there.
Talk to your people, they will talk back, and they will likely make a purchase after they begin to trust you more. They will essentially be gauging you and your responses to get an idea of who you are via text responses. If they enjoy you, they will stick around to make a purchase and likely come back for more when they need your products or services.
Gaining trust will increase sales
So you've gained the trust of your visitors and now they want to buy from you all of the time. This is the greatest feeling you can achieve because now you have recurring customers who don't need to be sold to since they already made a purchasing decision before they opened up their browser!
You can't stop the process here though, you need to continue to do this every single day in order to always get more and more returning customers and boosting your sales.
In conclusion
If you're not trying to boost your sales through returning customers, you're just not trying to be successful. It isn't difficult to treat someone like a human and tell them the truth while building a relationship with them, so do it and watch how often it turns into a long-term relationship where they come to you for everything they need that you offer.
