Online sales get boosted thanks to mob mentality

We've all seen what mob mentality can do in a negative way, but we never thing of the positive things it can do in order to help someone or even boost your online sales.  Yes, mob mentality isn't always a bad thing for you or someone else, it can actually produce great things in a short amount of time and even change the world if it were to scale up large enough!

Mob mentality is essentially a lot of followers clinging to what the majority of others are at the moment.  Think of when someone goes into the streets after their favorite sports team wins it all and they decide to light a car on fire.  The mentality will spread and others will get into the mix and start breaking windows and flipping cars, which is a horrible thing to witness.  These people essentially think "Well, if they're doing it, why can't I?" and that mentality spreads like wild fire.

On the other hand, the good side of mob mentality is rarely seen because there is so much hate within this world, but it's still here.  Think of all the times you've seen someone raise money for cancer treatment or to save a farm, that's positive mob mentality and it's what this discussion is all about Online sales get boosted thanks to mob mentality

The majority of people are followers
This is a good and bad thing when you think about it.  If your initial wave of reviews are positive, people will tend to latch onto that and look for the good in your products or services, then they'll leave similar reviews.  On the other hand, if your initial wave of reviews are negative, you likely won't get many sales but the ones who do purchase will probably leave reviews that aren't great.

Peple want to follow others who have already experienced what you want to.  If you can build your business so it has a lot of followers, who are positive of course, you will gain an exponential amount of new followers simply because you already have high numbers lol.

More followers = More trust
This isn't anything new actually, becuase it can be seen all over facebook to Twitter and even on Instagram and Pinterest.  The more followers someone has on their social media profile, the more trust they inevitably have with strangers who hadn't thought about following them yesterday.  This is because the stranger will land on the profile and see that X,XXX,XXX amount of random people have already followed the profile they're looking at, which will boost their trust in the profile and that usually results in a person following the profiles since all of these others have already done it.

Online reviews encourage others to sign up
When someone leaves a positive review online for your business or website it encourages others to leave reviews after their experience with your business or website.  People will also make a purchasing decision based on what others have already said about your services or products, proving that mob mentality lives strong in a positive way Online sales get boosted thanks to mob mentality

In conclusion
When people think of mob mentality, they always think of riots that are burning down cities, but that's not the only time it's seen.  Yes, mob mentality can be seen in a positive way to actually boost your own success, and if you read through this discussion you would have seen a few reasons why that is so lol Online sales get boosted thanks to mob mentality  If you can build a dedicated following, it will only get bigger and bigger over time, just like the snowball effect but in a good way Online sales get boosted thanks to mob mentality

Normally, in the society mob activities are considered illegal because they are prone to conflicts, violence and damage of property and lives. But everything doesn't have to be literally interpreted and applied, so on that note when it comes to one's business, channeling the spirit of mob mentality in focusing on a rampant trend would definitely pull more attention to one's business and this means more profit.

I can say that you are lucky to experience the mob mentality a.k.a. the bandwagon effect in your business. Sometimes it takes hard work and sometimes it takes just sheer luck just like a movie start that they call overnight sensation. In cases when your business becomes trending with the market that sales are peaking very high you have to be aware that the supplies should be available and that the price should remain steady.

Mob mentality could have some benefits in hyping out the site but it all depends on the quality of the site because it's only effective if you have a good site with good content. If the site is no good and you use mob mentality through false hype then it would eventually backfire.

Yeah, which is why it's very important to always have a section for reviews and ratings on your product so that people will know when others are also buying the product and they will know that your products are of high quality. You can also get feedback from your previous customers and share their testimonials on your website to encourage more people to buy.

I fully agree that majority of the people are followers and some are even blind followers. That's the main reason for those viral videos and trending post that are nonsensical. I have been receiving forwarded items in my social media accounts that are really nonsense. And when I question the sender, the usual reply I get is no big deal, just wanted to share. Share something nonsense is big deal huh. In the positive note, it's too difficult to make people jump into your bandwagon when it is something sensible.

Exactly lol. Too many people are blind followers because of what others have liked. It doesn't take long to do some research and figure out what you're about to follow, but not many people do it since it's free to click that "Subscribe" or "follow" button and then make a purchase later on when you eventually see an ad or post from said company lol.

I've actually followed companies that I have never heard of, but it's not because of the number of followers the company had, it was because I was honestly interested and wanted to see what they were all about lol. I purchased from some of them later on after doing some research, but the majority don't get my money, and I still follow them haha Online sales get boosted thanks to mob mentality

It's easy to follow a company, especially on social media, because it's free and you don't have to worry about getting spammed due to how the platforms are set up. Sure, you might see those companies post more often through your homepage newsfeed, but they won't show up as ads every single time unless you're the type of person they're targeting.

It's sad that people are followers, but it's good for us marketers because we can usually profit off of the people who aren't doing the research prior to signing up for our services or buying our products lol Online sales get boosted thanks to mob mentality

I have noticed that people tend to flock into the ideas which go viral. And lot of sales can be made. That's one reason influencer industry is going ahead. And there are people who are making a lot of money with that. I have also noticed that online sales are easy to boost if people actually have strong feeling following for specific influencer. Some nice tips that you have listed here for anyone to check out for their product sales.

I agree with you. In my opinion also most people are followers and not leaders that's why 1% of the world's population controls 80%-90% of the world's wealth. Most people don't have the courage to follow their own path and are simply other people's followers. I think this applies most to sales. People buy designer gear not because they like it, but because its designer and they were told it makes them look successful. That's why the highest sales on amazon come from amazon review sites.

So true, and as for the designer clothing, people also buy it because their friends are buying it and now they want to be a status symbol just like them lol. That's another form of following, a status symbol, and people want to be as high up as anyone wearing expensive clothing.

I really think online sales can't be boosted by mob mentality. When it comes to visits and hits maybe yes, mob mentality would and can boost it but when it comes to actual sales it doesn't amount to anything. People wouldn't spend on a product unless otherwise they're from a targeted niche.

I'm fully aware of mob mentality; it's negatives and its positives. When it's negative we call it “mob mentality”. When it's positive, we call it “collective thinking”. LOL. Online sales get boosted thanks to mob mentality I think Twitter is by far the best example of “mob mentality”. And as you say, that's not really a bad thing.

I think it is somewhat difficult to get good quality followers in the beginning but if you consistently make an effort then you will be able to win the trust of some people who become your loyal followers. I guess the number of followers definitely goes on increasing every day after that and you never have to look back. the bigger challenge, however, is to use this mob of followers for your benefit in a not so obvious way. once you are able to do that you are definitely going to succeed in whatever your goal is.

This reminds of an article I read somewhere on the net. The writer says he didn't really care if he had no followers when he launched his blog. He'd persuade his wife to follow him.

That's one follower but you have to start somewhere. Your friends on social media, just keep asking them to follow you until they do. Others might just click "follow" because they are doing what their friends did. Keep churning out quality content and you'll see those numbers going further up.
