When you start working online, you'll quickly learn that you need a proper sales funnel set up in order to capture as many clients as possible. If you're not trying to set up a sales funnel, you're already one step behind your competitors, but having a bad lead generation method sets you back even further since your website won't profit much at all.
Setting up the funnel and tweaking it to perfection isn't the difficult part of all this, it's getting the right people to your website in order to turn them into a sale and profit. Sure, you can buy a traffic package and get 100,000 people to your website for $100, but do you think that the traffic you're purchasing will actually convert into a sale? Probably not, and that's because the traffic in those packages is 99.9% fake which will never turn into a sale. Sure, you could purchase those types of traffic packages and actually make a sale, but most of the time that sale will not come from the traffic package you purchased and it will likely be from something else you're trying. So, to play it safe you should focus on quality traffic and lead generation methods and ignore the cheap ones that seem too good to be true because they are.
Below are a few things you should focus on before you start your online sales journey, and they are:
Your funnel should be set up before you generate leads
When you're bringing in traffic in hopes of turning them into sales, you'll want to make sure your funnels are set in place and working before you actually do anything. If your funnels are ready for your traffic, you'll likely lose a decent amount of conversions, and that's not something you'd want if you're trying to profit from your website like most people are.
A sales funnel isn't actually that difficult to set up. All you're doing is funneling people to your sales pages, without taking advantage or spamming them, in order for them to make a purchase. They need to feel like they've landed on your sales page because of their own decisions, but in reality, you're the one who pushed them there lol
Your leads need to be high quality to actually convert
Some people purchase traffic packages on a large scale because they think it will convert into a lot of sales, but in reality, it's fake traffic that never converts, which means you're just wasting money. What you'll need to do is stop trying to take the easy road and actually harvest leads yourself or put some money into a PPC campaign and tweak it to perfection so you get some great traffic coming in that will likely turn into a sale.
Low-quality leads are ones that come to your website from a randomly sent out email that might be obscure to the person reading it. Other low-quality leads are when you post an ad on a general website and hope to get niche specific leads to your website, which will never actually happen.
You need to focus on niche specific advertising and content creation in order to boost your lead quality.
You might have to pay more for leads
When it comes to your PPC campaigns, like mentioned above, you might have to pay a premium when it comes to actually getting people to your website that will actually want what you have for sale. Think about it, if you were to set up an ad at $0.05 per click and the national average is $1.00, you won't get much of quality when it comes to your clicks. This is because you will likely be running a general campaign, that isn't super targeted, and you're now getting traffic from 3rd world countries that likely can't afford your product or service in the first place.
Don't get me wrong, 3rd world countries do spend money online, but they need to be able to afford what you're selling and that means anything in USD or British Pounds might be out of their pay range since our currency value is much higher. Target specific 1st world countries and don't worry about the amount of traffic you're getting compared to when you targeted 3rd world countris, because you're now getting traffic that is 10x more likely to convert
Always capture an email when generating leads
If you're not trying to capture any emails from people visiting your website, you're already failing because you have no one to advertise to for free in the long run. Think about it, you can capture 10,000 emails and send out newsletters to them every week, possibly turning 10% of them into returning customers. If you were generating 100 sales a week, you're not doing 110 with your email list, and that number will only grow with each sign up you get.
In conclusion
Sales funnels aren't difficult to set up, they just take time to tweak in order to make perfect for your audience. You'll need to push people to your sales pages without making it seem like you're forcing them there, they need to think they landed on your products on their own, and this is the most difficult part about it. Your leads need to be high quality, which means you need to avoid traffic packages and pay a little more for a PPC campaign that is super targeted in order to get people in that will actually purchase from you. If you can do all of this, you'll have a successful website
