We all need website traffic, so understanding the best ways to boost your visitors is one of the things you need to focus on in order to be successful online. Some of the points I'll discuss within this discussion might be pretty standard to most of us, but there will be at least one of these that will help one or two people out to get their initial sales rolling in.
High-quality traffic methods will usually take more time than a free traffic exchange, which isn't the best way to get people to your website because it never really converts into sales, so you'll have to know how to differentiate the good from the bad. In this discussion, I'll be going over my top 5 ways to get your traffic coming in, which will boost your sales, and make you a happier webmaster
Targeting low hanging fruit
When you're doing keyword research, you will quickly notice some search phrases don't get as much traffic as others, which is perfectly normal. The low hanging fruit will be the keywords that likely aren't being targeted by SEO campaigns, making them easier to rank for and bring in a little bit of traffic that converts at a high rate.
This is actually a great SEO starter campaign for any business because it works so well. Think about it, would you rather be ranked #1 for a keyword that gets 1,000 searches a month or would you want to be on page 5 for a keyword that gets 30,000 searches per month? If you said on page 5, you probably don't know that people rarely click off of the first page of the rankings, which means you won't get any traffic when on page 5 lol.
You can rank easier for these low hanging fruit, long-tailed keywords, and start to get traffic and sales much quicker than if you were to target your main keywords. Plenty of SEO companies do this for their clients, and the clients love the quicker results in the rankings as well as the boost in sales
Use your content to answer questions your customers might have
This method ties into the low hanging fruit method, mainly because you're targeting questions people look up in the search engines to find answers for. Think about it, if you were running an SEO company and had a subpage titled "How to find the best SEO company" you'd likely get ranked quicker than if you just targeted "SEO company". You'll be targeting long-tailed, low hanging fruit, keywords which are in the form of a question because people will be searching for answers.
If your content answers the question the visitor has, you will likely turn them into a customer, and the beauty of this is your content can keep bringing them in year-round
Update and optimize old content that needs help
A lot of people don't always think about this because they always think they could do no wrong and all their posts are abiding by Googles guidelines. In reality, you likely haven't optimized all of your posts the best you could and you're missing out on potential clients.
What you'll want to do is sift through all your old blog posts and edit the titles, descriptions, and the post itself to make sure it's all optimized correctly and able to bring in high-quality traffic when it gets reindexed.
Get a social media PPC campaign up and running
The beauty of big social media platforms is that they usually have pretty amazing PPC dashboards for you to start advertising through. Facebook is one of the better ones you can use because it has such amazing targeting that you can actually get an ad in front of someone based on their actual shopping history. I'm not talking about their online shopping history, I'm talking about any type of shopping they've done because Facebook is partnered with data companies who also work with credit and debit cards to accumulate data and figure out what people are doing and where they're shopping. By running an ad like this, you can get super targeted and know the people seeing your ads have already made purchases similar to what you're selling
Don't listen to everything online giving you "advice" about traffic
One of the biggest problems I see online is people falling into these sales traps and then complaining that they "system" didn't work. People will give mountains of advice and usually link to a service or system that will "help" you do even more than what they can tell you on an open forum or blog. In reality, these systems are just automating your work slightly and don't actually do much for you.
If you think something is too good to be true, it usually is, and that rings true for anything online as well.
In conclusion
High-quality traffic is what we all need for our websites in order to boost sales and be happier in general. We want the traffic so we can profit, and not actually worry about how we're going to pay our bills, so hopefully, the information above helps out at least one person on their journey
