A lot of people who are in the marketing field have good taste, and this could actually be hurting their blogs. Having good taste will help out when you're trying to build a website or writing up taglines for marketing purposes, but that good taste is often difficult to convey into your content writing for marketing purposes. People can usually write up good headlines in order to get people to come in and read, but the same tricks with headlines don't work within content, so you'll need to think a little different.
Now, I'm not saying you can't write up your own content, not at all. I'm saying you need to be less worried about the content itself and just write for the readers who will be coming to your website. If you worry too much about how well the article or blog post is written, you won't be publishing as much content as you could be, and this means you won't get as much traffic and sales in the long run. Usually, someone will read up on a few ebooks about how to blog and they will implement everything they've read, which will usually come back to bite them in the butt. This is because those types of ebooks are written in a way to teach you everything, but don't teach you how to write for your readers. You'll basically be a writing robot after you're done reading these types of ebooks, but you'll have to put your own flair into the work if you want it to be seen as amazing.
So how can you publish blog posts effectively and efficiently at the same time? Well, below I'll be going over 3 main tips you should work on in order to do just this
Check your taste at the door
You need to understand that putting your own taste into your blog posts or content generation should be left at the door. You're writing for your visitors, not for yourself, so you need to know what they want to read and then write about it. Companies who don't post as often usually have problems when people are fighting over the content solely based on their own personal taste, which puts you at an advantage because you're churning out 10x as much content as they are
One company I've read about was not getting enough content published because the board of directors had to approve everything prior to publishing. This just sets back the writers and makes your business not look as productive as it should be. The downside about this is that the writers were seen as not doing their jobs because the amount of traffic increase wasn't what the directors had expected, but it was the directors fault! Companies like this are crippling themselves and opening the doors for their competitors to take over lol.
After the directors realized it was a lot of work to manage the writers, they got rid of the approval process and gave the writers creative freedom. This turned the traffic faucet on and the directors were extremely happy, which made the writers look extremely well within their eyes.
Blogging needs to be a priority
As a full time online marketer, I've known for a long time that blogging is one of the first things I do with my websites each day, but not many people do this. What you can do is create a schedule of operations that need to be done each day, and make blogging the first thing to do. You don't have to publish a 5,000 word article each morning, but you need to publish something in order to overtake your competition. Once you get seen as an authority within your industry, you won't have to post as often, but you should still be posting a few times a week to keep people interested.
Not blogging frequently will just open the doors for your competition, just like the company I mentioned who needed to approve everything before it was published, which shouldn't be done.
Your blog needs to be seen as a staff member
If you do this right, you will have goals for your blog, just like how you will set goals for yourself as well as your employees if you have some.
