Plenty of people worry about how they are going to make money online, but they are usually just stuck in a rutt when it comest to out of the box ideas. If you can think of something a person can use, no matter how odd it might be, I'm sure there are many other people out there in the shadows that will pay you for it lol. Making money online isn't the most difficult thing to do in the world, it just seems that way because of all the negative content out there talking about how someone failed after investing thousands of dollars in a method or program. Don't be one of those people who are simply following what someone else did, and then you fail or don't make as much as the originator.
You'll need to think outside of the box if you want to have a unique freelancing job since a lot of the common ones like SEO, content writing, web design, etc. are already saturated and will be difficult to crack into. Take me for example, I just wrote up a detailed content writing service here on SEOclerks and I made 7 sales in 30 days lol Now, I didn't need the money right away for something like this, I was just trying to build up my clientele so I can have a decent income stream later on down the road.
Below I'm going to go over 6 unique, and a bit odd, ideas of how other people thought outside of the box and are now making money online.
Potato Quotes
There is actually a service that will purchase a potato for you and write whatever quote you want on it, then send it to someone you love or hate lol. They went live a few years ago and started to gain exposure mainly through Reddit and other websites like it. After a year or so, they were raking in a ton of money since they could purchase a potato for $0.35, a sharpie marker for $2 and sell a single potato for $15 lol.
Something like this is gimmicky and doesn't have a super long shelf life because it tends to fade away with time. People will purchase the potato because it's funny, but that fades after the business model begins to change. People will set up these odd services and then try to turn them into full fledged businesses, which usually dilutes their originality and people tend to fade away from it entirely.
Send glitter to your enemies
I thought this was a great idea when I first stumbled upon it. Again, I found this type of business model through reddit and thought it was hilarious. All you needed was an address and you could send glitter to your enemies in an anonymous fashion. Since the return address would be from the mail creators home or business, you enemy wouldn't think twice about opening it
I actually purchased something like this for all 3 of my sisters, which I regret because it was more expensive than if I did it myself, but it was funny at the time lol.
Again, this type of business model will fade after the originators begin to expand on the idea, diluting the image of the service. If you do something unique like this, keep it simple and try not to expand too much.
Doing voice overs for videos
This type of job just requires you to speak, literally. You will usually be given a script to use when recording your voice overs, or you can have an add on where you write the script yourself. Many people doing this type of work have previous experience as Disk Jockeys or Radio Hosts, but if you have a smooth voice, you can usually crack into this easily.
You will need to know how to edit video and voice files (not sure if that's what they're called lol) in order to send your customers something that is high quality. You will likely need a good mic and recording equipment if you want a lot of return customers, so there is some sort of investment if you want to go this route, and there's no guarantee that you will make enough money to cover your investment
I've purchased this type of work multiple times when I'm getting promotional videos made for my websites. For this reason, I know there is room for more quality voice over work, which you can capitalize on
Taking pictures with signs
If you live in an exotic location, or just a location that others think is exotic, you can usually get a good amount of sales just by writing the desired text on a piece of paper that you client submitted to you. Literally all you do is take the clients info, write it on a piece of paper or a dry erase board and have someone take a picture of you in front of a tree, monument, ocean, forest, road, car, etc.
People will pay for almost anything, so if you have something they can't access, they will pay you for it
Be someones fake boyfriend or girlfriend online
For this to work, you will need to be semi-attractive or at least have a profile image that makes you look so lol. There are some people who have gone as far as making entire accounts in order to be portrayed as a fake boyfriend or girlfriend to anyone who pays them.
There have been instances of this called "cat-fishing" but that is when someone takes another persons identity and tries to be that person while "dating" someone else. It's slightly different, but in the same realm I guess.
Anyway, you can have a profile set up on Facebook where you can then accept the relationship status of the client, and you will get paid for each week or month you are "dating" lol. It's kind of a sad thing to think of, people paying for a fake relationship, but there are a lot of people out there worried about how they are perceived and might need your help with this.
Break up with boyfriends or girlfriends for other people
This is actually kind of funny to think of, you're basically a professional at breaking up and there are no strings attached so you can be as nice or as savage as you want Usually people who hire a "break up expert" will charge per instance, not a monthly fee, since it's a one time thing.
Not many people know about this type of freelance job, and it's probably because it's not needed as much as you would think. But the people who are doing this for work, do it well and make a decent living off of it. This is like the reverse Hitch where Will Smith was basically a match maker for guys who couldn't get women to fall in love with them, and it didn't matter how good of a guy they were. Instead of helping others fall in love, you would be breaking some hearts with your savageness and moving on lol
In Conclusion:
There are many odd jobs out there that will help you make some money online, but it's up to you on what you select and run with. Some of you might want to take pictures in front of cars with the clients content written on a piece of paper or whiteboard. Some of you may want to be a savage and break up with peoples boyfriends or girlfriends. If neither of those are up your alley, maybe you want to be the boyfriend or girlfriend while getting paid for it lol You can always send people glitter potatoes I guess Your imagination is the only thing limiting you from making money online. So get out there and start thinking of something odd people will pay for, and the masses will likely follow you if you go viral

This is one of your most whimsical posts, and I laughed out loud at this a few times, lol. The glitter one is awesome--I can think of a few people I would love to send those envelopes to. I also was intrigued by getting paid to "act" like someone else's significant other--this gave me other ideas for other types of online "impersonations" or "scams" for different roles on social media, and not just the role of a new girlfriend or boyfriend; however, I am not sure that I could do this type of thing, though, because I am a terrible liar, and I think I would really feel a bit awkward or just wrong considering the moral issues behind these types of social media practices; although, I am sure people do it all of the time.
