How do you create Meta Tags?

I was wondering how to use SEO to optimize my articles at Hubpages. I found out that I had to do the following steps:

  1. Create page titles. Keyword-based titles help establish page theme and direction for your keywords.
  2. Create meta tags. ...
  3. Place strategic search phrases on pages. ...
  4. Develop new sitemaps for Google and Bing. ...
  5. Submit website to directories (limited use).
Now the problem is, Hubpages is not my own site. I registered under that site to publish my recipes. So, how do I create meta tags on my articles?

Any advice?

To Add Meta Tags to Your Website

Open a text editing program, such as Notepad.
Log in to the Web hosting account provided to you by your hosting provider.
In the text editor, open the Web page you want to add the meta tags to.
In the portion of the file, insert the meta content. ...
Save the file.

Because you don't really have control of your "site", I don't think you can do much about creating some meta tags. I tried a quick Google search to see whether or not there are some articles or sites that have information about it but I could not find any. I just don't think it is possible to create meta tags for pages/sites on Hubspages unfortunately.

Thanks very much for your help. So I guess SEO is not going to help for my Hubpages articles. Have to depend on social media then

peachpurple ~ Try this free tool. Type in your HUBPage URL. I think if you recognize your own content you'll understand more about the metadata.

Yeah I believe that this is correct. Since you don't really have full control of the site itself, but merely post content to the site, you don't have the same control over the site's metadata and tags as you would with a site that you own yourself. I don't know too much about this but it seems to me that the only people on that site that would have control over the metadata would be the owners/programmers, not the users.

Meta tags are mostly put together by the one that has access to the dashboard which I believe in hubpages you don't have such a privilege than just to upload your article, so in that case you don't have much option.

thanks, I believe that you are right. I cannot have any control over the source html. Unlike blogger dot com, I could edit the html.

I am using WordPress. So my answers context is limited to that. I make use of two plugins. First is Yoast SEO plugin. It has the options for the SEO. And second is the All in One SEO. This plugin requires the SEO settings on the page and the post. This can be properly managed as well. In case of the meta tags you can easily add those settings by making the options of the plugins. And then save the changes. It's easy to do that on your own. Meta tags don't much influence the SEO. But they are good to have for your website to properly identify on search results.

I think you can just create tags that are going to give you the most hits. Anything containing money or monetization is probably going to be a hit with most people unless I miss my guess. Meta tags can certainly bring you more readers.

I don't think you need to create meta tags, people bother a lot about meta tags, but it doesn't matter, seriously, google's crawler doesn't really care about your meta tags trust me. except when you want to prove ownership of your site, in other to get indexed.

Still meta keyword tag is important? Because it was in a buzz that google will be ignoring meta keyword tag for ranking the websites.

Just also, try to look at other popular Hubpages and see how they have set there's up in your niche. But don't copy there work just take a view of what works for them.

It is just some SEO techniques.

If you want to create perfect meta tags then try SEO by yoast on Wordpress, in the case you use this platform for your blog then on each stuff you can edit title, description, keyword as wanted there.

I have never really used hub pages so can't really say much just try and give and use as much content as you can. With spelling correctly and using the right words, also placing your keywords around the content. If you use Google Chrome download the Extension called Grammarly that is an awesome tool to use as well. Even tho most of us can spell correctly this tool can point out where to put commas to even pronounce a word correctly very fast. So perhaps you type fast and did your Hub Page and Grammarly would underline certain words for you just click on them and correct them. But that is just a thought for you.

Since you don't have full control of the website there is little you can do about creating a meta tag for your articles.

For example, a keyword meta tag for a company that sells French Fries would look like this:
<meta name="keywords" content="french fries, chips, potatoes, fresh" />

The meta tag above would be added to the index.html file of the webpage.

Another alternative for you is to use appropriate keywords in your article title and content. You could use keywords in the tag section to article too. It's advisable to use your main keyword on the beginning or middle of your title for better indexing by search bots. Your articles have a better chance of appearing among the first search results when you do this.
