Need a bit of help with WordPress

Hey guys,

I know that this is possible with coding but I am wondering if WordPress has some special option that I have missed or overlooked. What I basically want is when you hover your mouse over a menu on the WordPress website, that it drops down. So basically a drop-down menu option within the WordPress. I have checked through the customization settings and so on but I can't seem to find it. Is it perhaps theme dependent?

I'd appreciate the help and hopefully, there's a solution Need a bit of help with WordPress Thank you in advance!

Hi Tronia,

Yes, the drop down effect is created from the style sheet (CSS) of the theme you are using. Most themes have only 1 style, some premium themes you are able to switch between a few styling options... So in short, it would depend on the theme you are using.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Kevin

That's actually really easy to implement. I'm not sure how much coding experience you have so I would avoid trying to do it yourself. A lot of Wordpress themes actually have a dropdown already for their menus so your best bet is probably to go with one of those themes. It will work correctly and will look perfect as well.

Actually, you don't need coding skills to create a drop down menu on wordpress. You can create drop down menu by adding categories and sub categories. Sub categories will be the drop down menu. However, this process will create a drop down menu with click. If you want to a menu that shows drop down list just by hovering on the main menu, you have to learn programing.

1. If it's theme specific then you can code through CSS and JavaScript.
2. If it's WordPress admin menu specific then you can add remove the option through php files. Here you can use the plugin for adding the menu for the admin bar. And that way you can manage the wordpress mouse hover options.
3. Menu in wordpress can make use of pages, categories and tags. So adding that also adds the hover option for drop down automatically in default themes.

I am not sure how the WordPress menus in your context are. But it's definitely possible to code the menu through the CSS and JavaScript. That is how it seems to be working for the settings.

Thanks for listing all of the possibilities overcast Need a bit of help with WordPress that's actually really useful. I think that I will just add the code instead of trying to figure it out through my theme because I am not sure whether it even has that option in the customization tab of WordPress. Either way, a big thank you!

You can use those menu plugins in such case. This way you are not modifying anything. And If the plugin is removed, then you're back to normal. So that can be another good option. I am glad that my post helped. Have a good day.

It seems like you got some good answers on here that will hopefully help you with your problem. I don't know much about WordPress because I don't use it, but I do know that there are lots of ways to get free help within the WordPress network.

There are more different menu which can give you different drop down styles so I would you edit CSS if you want to make your menu look different. In the other hand, you can use your custom code and replacing the menu of WordPress by yours

I would suggest you try out the codes, if you have not really resolved the issue. I'm saying this from experience for I have a friend that runs a wordpress blog and issues like this doesn't bother him that much.

If you actually need a bit of help with WordPress, then you need to consider joining a community where you can be trained on optimizing your website for high search potentials. There are affiliate marketing communities that give all you need to learn SEO strategies and teach you basically everything you require to set up a brandable website and get high rankings in Google, Bing, Yahoo and the rest of other search engines.

I just joined an affiliate marketing community that trained me how to build an online brand in less than 30 minutes and perform certain tasks towards becoming highly successful in affiliate marketing. All the SEO strategies were explained in details and the use of WordPress technologies was analysed properly.
