When it comes to freelancing and selling your skills as a service, you will need to do a lot of things in order to keep the client happy. There are the more obvious things like keeping up a good conversation with the client while you're working and submitting the work on time or actually earlier than the due date. There are also some other things that people don't think about and that's what I'm here to discuss. So many people focus on the best service they can offer, which is great, but they fall behind in certain things that will make your clientele come back time and time again.
What am I talking about?
You need to over deliver your work! Over delivering the work that has been agreed upon will show the client that you are dedicated to the job and you want to give them the best service possible. Clients love this because you're showing that you plan on breaking a few rules, in a good way, in order to help them out as much as possible. Some of the service providers here never over deliver their services and wonder why their clients never come back. They aren't coming back because another service provider they were testing out, the same time they ordered from you, may have done a similar job but they over delivered the work. You need to think of it this way, would you pay $5 for a 12 pack of pop/soda or would you rather pay $5 for a 12 pack of pop/soda and get a free 6 pack just for purchasing?
I recently started my own writing service here on SEOclerks and I've already had a couple clients with some more talking with me in PM's. I have a standard 500+ word article service for everyone to purchase, and I plan on over delivering on each order so I can build my loyal clientele quicker. Since I'm writing everything myself and not outsourcing, I have complete control on how much work goes into the job that was purchased from me. By over delivering my services, I am giving my clients a little surprise when I submit their order. Not only will they get a well researched and written article, but it's always longer than what they paid for '
I try to work with each content writing client that I have so they are the happiest they can be after I submit my work for them to view. I just started a writing service here on SEOclerks, but I'm far from a new writer since I already have monthly clients from around the world who have been paying me for years to put together golden nuggets of content for their websites and/or blogs lol
After a while, maybe right away, you will notice that your clients are going to give you creative control on your services (especially with writing services). This shows that you've gained their trust and now you can write up whatever you want for their website or blog as long as it fits. Most of my clients are at this point since I've been working with them for so long, and I gained their trust early on by over delivering my services
When you over deliver your work, you need to really show it well. You can't have a 500 word article and do 525 words or have a 3,000 high quality backlink campaign and build 3,100 backlinks. You need to go above and beyond with your work in order for your clients to actually notice the extra time and effort you put in. If you're over delivering as a freelancer, you need to actually do it and not claim you are with an additional 25 words or 100 backlinks lol. I like to over deliver by 25% to 50% so it's easily noticeable. I will do this with my SEO clients as well as my writing clients so they can easily measure the amount of work that was added on at no extra charge
In Conclusion:
If you're not over delivering on the agreed upon work, you're just going to be losing clients to your competitors who are doing this. If you want to be seen as the best, work like you are the best and put in some extra time. Your clients will see the great work you've done and they will come back time and time again for more of your time and effort
