What should I do when moving to a new web hosting provider?

I'm looking to transfer from Ramnode to DigitalOcean, they are unmanaged server hosting and there are many things to do.
I want to ensure a smooth and easy experience.
What should be in my works I am thinking of:
Setup hostname
Backup database
Setup DNS
Restore databases

I am missing somthings here? what should I do when moving to a new web hosting provider?
Please share your experience.

Hello,

We did this some time ago. I'm not entirely sure but it looks like you have most of it covered. The only drawback is the propagation time which can range from a few hours to, well give or take. Your A-Records are in check, your database is backed up. The only issue we had was with the propagation as we had no way of directly controlling this process. Perhaps you could run a quick question by the VPS providers just to verify that you haven't missed anything.

Thanks Joteque for your suggestions but as said in my question, they are unmanaged web hosting thus they will not support on technical problems that only support when their servers have problems.

I think when you are hunting for new hosting provider. Your focus should be on what you want from it. Let's say for dedicated server. You have to find out how much RAM and Space you want. Also you have to focus on cpanel or any other specific control panel you get. In case of dedicated server you also need to start from OS installation level. So try to find out what are some options you are getting. Based on this start finding host, read some reviews and then choose.

At the tiem of moving to new hosting server- at first you need to backup your database and your website. After that you will remove the name server from your first hosting zone. Secondly you will set up the name server with new hosting zone or you can transfer the domain from one server to another server if there facilities are available.

Thanks

Always remember that when moving you should make a plan of action for your move. Schedule the time you will move for the slowest day and the slowest time of day. This way as few people as possible will be disrupted by the process. Have a list of all the steps you need to take in order to move including details of file structure so you can ensure all files copied correctly. Once all the files are uploaded completely, test your site using the temporary URL. Use your check list of pages on your site to visit each one and ensure it is working properly. Once this is done you can change your DNS. Make sure you tell your visitors what you are doing so they can help identify problems.

If you have a good backup of the present version of your site then that would serve you in good stead. I think the host provider will do the setup and all you will be required to submit is the backup of your site. But you have to be focused on the testing because when there is a problem with the setup your site may have some broken links that are unresolved.

I think you need to be a little more specific here. In order to get the ore specific answer. For instance, I read a blog on AWS for Beginners written by Cloudways and I was really fascinated by AWS thus, I decided to migrate my website to the host and for that I opted for the Cloudways to enjoy their managed AWS hosting server.
Literally, I don't have to do much as they offer a very simple and an easy way for the migration of the website.
