When it comes to social media, it's a great way to find new clients and also be found yourself. When you're running a social media campaign, or just working on your social media profiles you're basically working on lead generation. It's a bit different when it comes to working with Instagram since it's pretty closed off from the rest of the world. Now I'm not saying that you can't access it if you were from an exotic location, I'm just saying there isn't much linking to be clicked on to move you away from the platform like all other platforms. That being said, Instagram is still a pretty solid platform to help build your email lists.
Emailing has the best ROI over pretty much anything when it comes to marketing. This is because people who sign up for your newsletters are waiting to see what you send them, which means they're interested in your products and services. You don't have to worry about algorithm changes like in SEO because there are none lol. You get a vote of confidence from the user and they allow you to email them, it's as simple as that, and now you can use Instagram to help get more people to sign up
The beauty of email lists is that you can continually market to people over time, unless they unsubscribe. People regularly sign up to newsletters to see what you're all about prior to signing up for a month service or making a purchase decision, so get to collecting those emails already lol
In this discussion I'll be going over how you can use Instagram to help increase your email list in order to pull in more sales and sign ups down the road
1. Mention Your Newsletters
The easiest way to get your list started, or to build it up, is to simply mention that you have a newsletter and you would encourage people to sign up to it. Don't do it all the time because it could get annoying, I would say that if you're posting to Instagram every day, you can mention your newsletter once a week and still be in good graces with your followers. If you're asking too often you could actually lose followers in a short amount of time.
After you get them signed up to your newsletter you now have 2 ways to get your business in front of them, which increases your chances of getting sign ups
2. Pull them off of Instagram
Use your bio to pull people off of Instagram to a page specifically designed for people leaving. You don't want to send them to just any page, make something on your site that welcomes them in and thanks them for leaving Instagram for a short amount of time in order to visit your website. People will enjoy the little bit of content you make in order to thank them because you took an extra step to go out of your way to show them you care instead of just sending them to a product page lol
On this page you will add a snippet of content and then under it you can add your email capture form. The sign up rate for this is pretty good because you're making someone happy by acknowledging them and they will return the nicety by signing up for your newsletter
You do need to remember that Instagram is a visuals platform, so add plenty of Images around your text in order to get people interested. Don't over complicate the email capture form either, if you're asking them 20 questions prior to signing up, they will leave your page right away.
If you have a pop up newsletter system, I would highly recommend disabling it on this page. This is because people are on their phones and they don't want the entire screen to get taken over by your pop up. The form on the page is powerful enough because it doesn't seem like you're annoying them.
3. Give them a reason to leave Instagram
If you give something away for Free, people on Instagram will more than likely click through and leave the platform to view your website. They don't mind leaving for something that is free because they will always have the Instagram app on their phone and they can go back whenever they want. Your website however won't always be there, so you need to capitalize on this however you can.
Besides just sharing a URL, you need to tell them why they should leave Instagram to check it out. Tell them it's 100% Free and there is no credit card required, no account required, no contract required, etc. You will simply have them sign up for the Free item or ebook and that will capture their information for you. Then your automated system will email them the ebook, coupon code, notification on their product being shipped, etc. and they will be happy.
4. Use Ads
Instagram ads are using the same back end as Facebook which means you can get pretty targeted when it comes to who your ads will be seen by. This also means that you will have a better chance at getting sign ups and sales because the more people who are super targeted, the more likely they will enjoy your post or website
This method is one of my favorites because I don't have to rely on any tricks or influencers in order to pull people to my profile or website. I simply choose what types of keywords I want to target and then set my overall budget and how long I want the ad to run and I'm good to go
Using Instagram to build an email list is still new to the majority of people out there. Sure, a lot of you may already know how to use Instagram in order to help build an email list, but you're not the majority I'm more referring to new webmasters who are wanting to make a sale or two with as little effort as possible Building your email lists will only compound and get better over time like a fine wine
In Conclusion:
Instagram is only getting bigger and better as time goes on. I've found myself browsing through pictures randomly while killing time and I didn't know why. It was because there were profiles I liked and I wanted to see images and content around the topics they talked about. I would get pulled in and click through randomly on links that were intriguing

Growing an email list has always been hard and doing it over Instagram should definitely be something to try out, though growing it by spending money on Instagram ads seems a bit overreaching. It won't be a first-hand conversion and you will lose some of those clicks over email subscription and a second time over email newsletter. Nice tips Razzy, I never thought of growing my email list by using Instagram. I agree that Instagram can be a great wait to lead users to buy products located outside Instagram, but for that to happen you must spark their interest enough so they will check your profile link or do a Google search on the product you are advertising (and you need to be in the first position for that).
