Google Jobs - New jobs search engine

This week Google launched a new service, an awesome one, yet again. Meet: https://careers.google.com/ - a brand new service that promises to aggregate multiple jobs from multiple job website providers into one singular search engines for jobs.
Google apparently claims that it doesn't want to compete with services like LikedIn, Careerbuilder Monster or Glassdoor but instead partner with them, developing a service capable of filtering jobs from multiple sources to fit your exact needs and specifications.

Did a little testing myself and most of the jobs listed in the search engines are jobs from Google itself. I saw very few results from other companies and most of them were located in the US. I hope Google will further develop this project transforming it into a full blown search engine capable of "indexing" jobs all over the world and from any source.

Don't know about you but I think it will be very helpful to do a general job search online and not being forced to use multiple platforms just because some companies will use one specific platform while posting nothing on the others. You can miss a lot of good jobs just because you didn't apply because you haven't seen their offer on the right platform.

The platform itself is still under development. A few days ago it didn't have an apply button, the jobs were listed by you there wasn't any call to action button leading you to an external page. Now I just checked and Google had introduced the apply button leading you to an actual page where you can apply for the job you are interested in.

This service will be fully functional very soon in the US and I bet it will be a worldwide thing in a few months. The question is: do you think Google will remain a third party link in the job seeking industry or do you think they will eventually make it possible to post a job directly to this search engines skipping the other platforms.

I personally think Google is looking to take over the job search industry in the future. LinkedIn is getting stronger and this is Google's response, a brand new job search engine, fast and clean doing what Google does best: provide search results.
If Google ends up doing the right thing and not abandon this project, I'm pretty sure it will take over everything job-related in a few years.

Thanks for the information, I didn't know that they've just launched this. It seems like another classical, genius, move by Google. They are just so good at knowing what to develop - they have probably seen the steady rise of unemployment and people facing these problems. They also know that majority of people nowadays try their luck at searching for jobs online so, hey why not make Google Jobs.

I can only imagine how popular this will get over time. Most people probably don't know that it's released yet but just watch it fly off once the word gets spread! I will give it a try myself to see how functional it is.

You are right that the new product of Google may help in alleviating the unemployment problem not only in America but also elsewhere considering that the internet is rife with lots of jobs. The only problem is how to look for those vacancies that we can qualify and earn from. If Google will blow up that issue of job search feature then I guess it will be a haven for job seekers.

I did not know about this Google's new product. Thanks for writing on this extensively. I hope this job search engine can also catch online work and freelancing jobs, not just 9-5 regular jobs in a regular companies.

This is a nice move in the part of a reputed and well known search engine like Google. Now people will have another reliable platform to find authentic and genuine jobs and that too with a single click.

One thing that I would prefer is that Google refines it's categorization to a good extent. This will help people to find jobs that are corresponding to their interests. This will prevent tons of unwanted jobs from popping up.

I have used the Donnaza and Indeed for job search. It seems the google jobs seems to be a good option. And it being a search engine based option, that is going to be even more useful. I hope that more and more companies reach using the google jobs. and that way one doesn't have to check out too many sites. I have found that monster and few others are not much reliable, so this surely looks like a good place.

Wow, this will take Google to a whole new level. A large percentage of job seekers don't have linkedin profile, in fact most have never visit linkedin or any job board, of course talking globally. And a large portion of those same people without linkedin profile use Google on a daily basis. Imagine when word spreads out that you can now search job specific to your location with Google job search. They will definitely take over the job search market with this.

Google Jobs? It's my first time hearing it. I think this is going to be a success if they go globally. Maybe it's a new step towards an unemployment community to develop. I don't think LinkedIn is anything similar to Google jobs though, they both are different. Google has an advantage with their own google search engine too, so I guess it will gonna work on future development of google jobs.

It's not available in many places as of yet. Mostly rolled out in US, UK and few other countries with database for them. I am guessing that soon this would be rolled out to many other countries. So you can see the changes for yourself. I don't think LinkedIn's current direction is going to be good enough to survive against monster and Google jobs. So we have to see how these changes work out in the end.

I didn't know about this Cristian. One singular search engines for jobs is a good improvement for us and a good saving of our time. Besides we would have more chances to find a good job much faster with this option!

It looks like Google is trying to be a jack of all trades. Unfortunately, most of Google’s features are not selling good. Take for instance Google+ which I thought was a pretender to Facebook. But it didn’t make a spark in social media. And now this job search engine, I can’t say if it will be a hit but more likely it doesn’t have a chance with the existing platforms for job search.

This is also the first time I'm hearing about this product in the works. I think that a business needs to be careful to keep succeeding. Should it stick to what works or expand? Look at Facebook that is loosing audience by the hour. It has expanded and owns Instagram and Whats app.In a way this has affected Facebook and it is no longer the giant it used to be. Google may run into the same trouble. It is trying to monopolize everything.
