When it comes to being successful online, there are so many things that you could focus on. You could have a unique idea or product that may sell like hot cakes or you could be selling a consultancy service to help big businesses with problems they may be having. The possibilities are limitless when it comes to making money online and being successful
Being successful online isn't just being rich over night, even though that would be a pretty great feeling lol. Being successful is when you've put in a lot of hard work and it starts to show by gaining more traffic to your website, getting more email sign ups and in the end making more sales through your product or service pages.
In this discussion I'm going to list a few things you should focus on if you want to start out on the right foot when it comes to being successful online
1. YouTube
YouTube is a great place to siphon some traffic from, gain an authority boost and also gain a SERP boost as well. If you think about it, there have been people who have gotten famous simply by posting YouTube videos of themselves singing, playing an instrument, doing a trick, making money, etc. You know who Justin Bieber is right? Well did you know that Usher stumbled upon one of his videos and decided to contact him in order to get Bieber signed to his label? Now Justin Bieber is one of the top earning pop stars in the world, and it was all thanks to YouTube letting him post free videos of him singing and playing the guitar lol.
YouTube has endless possibilities and reach, so if you're not making an account and posting to it regularly, you're just not utilizing all the free tools you can.
2. Social Media
If you think about it, Facebook just by itself has over a billion active users each month browsing it's pages. Also, other social media giants such as Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter have hundreds of millions of users as well. You need to build pages for your websites and business on all of these multi billion dollar platforms in order to take your piece of the pie lol.
By making your own profiles on these big social media platforms you are granting yourself access to all of it's users. If you're posting regularly and interacting with anyone who likes or comments on your post, you will definitely increase your authority and overall sales
3. Blogging
When it comes to being successful online, you will almost always need to have a blog and be blogging on it. Think of this just like how Justin Bieber was found on YouTube. You will post quality content and the search engines will eventually index it. If you gain enough authority in your niche then Google will increase your rankings allowing people to find you, just like Bieber on YouTube, and you will then start making more sales since search engine traffic is super targeted
4. Analytics
Google has a nifty little tool called Google Analytics that you should be using. It's a free service that will allow you to track all of your traffic, even in real time. You will be able to see where they came from, what they're reading, how long they're on your website and what page they left on. By keeping track of all your traffic using analytics you can see what users are gravitating towards and make those pages even better. You will also see where you're lacking because people will leave a website if they don't like the page. Fix the bad pages and you will have an amazing bounce rate that will most definitely increase your profits since people will be staying on your pages longer
5. Email marketing
You should always be thinking about email marketing when you're setting up a business or running one that is already a little successful. By not thinking and acting on this you will just leave a massive amount of money on the table since you won't have as good of luck bringing people back to your website. When you think of email marketing you're probably thinking of sending out millions of emails in a day to people who aren't expecting them. But proper email marketing is when people are expecting to receive your emails because they signed up for a list of yours. I prefer using mailchimp to handle all my automated email sending in order to keep people coming back, and I would say that you should check them out as well
6. Podcasts and Webinars
I recently started getting into podcast and webinars as a way to increase my own sales. I've found out that these two combined together are a great 1-2 punch to internet marketing lol You can publish a bunch of podcasts and talk about services, then refer people to your webinars and the webinars will eventually sell a high priced product or service. I only recently started to do in depth webinars because I've been testing them out, but I can tell you that they are definitely a good thing to start using and you won't regret starting early
7. Redistributing Content
When you think of someone redistributing content, you think duplicate content. I know I do, but we both have to break that mindset and realize that redistributing content is a good thing. How many times have you seen the same video on platforms like YouTube, DailyMotion and Vimeo? Probably all the time, right? Well that's not considered duplicate content and people are building massive following by getting 1 video distributed on multiple channels. You can do the exact same thing with content Of course you would have to edit the titles and descriptions of each post just so you were slightly unique and could target more keywords
8. Help People
When it comes to building client loyalty, it all starts off when you help them in the beginning. If someone asks a question and 10 people give 1 sentence answers but you type up a 900 word response, who do you think they're going to continue talking to?
Set up profiles on platforms like Quora and Yahoo Answers and you will be able to help out people who are asking questions. Like I said above, give some detailed answers and you will get more traction and possibly get a "best answer" which will send a lot of traffic over time without you having to do anything after your initial post
9. Facebook and Adwords PPC
Usually when it comes to PPC campaigns you will save some money using Facebook over Adwords. That is if you know what you're doing and split test everything Facebook will also allow you to get more into detail when you're targeting people you want your ad to show to, so remember that when you do get into PPC
10. Outsourcing
You can't do everything by yourself because it will be extremely time consuming and you will just get burnt out over time. Instead you will need to start outsourcing some of your basic tasks that take up a lot of time, so you can focus on your business more. Smart online marketers have known this for years and we always outsource small tasks that might take us a few hours. We can get someone from SEOclerks.com to do the work for a few bucks since there are freelancers from all over the world here
In Conclusion:
It's not easy running a business, but if you follow everything I mentioned above you will have a better chance at being successful. Each month I do all of what I mentioned and one of the most important things I can say is that you need to be outsourcing. Have someone set up your profiles on social media, post to specific platforms, do the jobs you don't want to, etc. This will only increase your productivity and in turn make you more successful. Obviously you'll have to figure out what freelancers will do better work than others while not bleeding your profits dry at the same time, but that will take some time
