No updates for original Windows 10 version of July 2015

Microsoft announced that it will stop giving update to the first version of Windows 10 which was released in July 2015.

If you running the Windows 10 1507 build in your system then you should upgrade it to the new Windows 10 creators update version to get updates. Else you will risk your system security.

I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to the Windows 10 that was first released in July 2015 however I had a big problem with constant freezing of my PC so I ended up going back to Windows 8.1 and staying there so as of right now I am still on Windows 8.1 however I have family who upgraded when they were offering it in July 2015 and they are still running it now.

Is the Windows 10 Creators version a free update if you have the Windows 10 from July 2015 or is this something that you would have to purchase yourself? I am curious as I have family members who are one Windows 10 from July 2015 who probably do not know about Microsoft stopping updates for that version.

Thanks.

Thanks for the heads up. I downloaded the latest ISO last week when the Creators Update came out. I have 2 machines running the original Windows 10 release. I've upgraded one (clean install), but haven't gotten to the other yet.

I think there was one creators update released recently. That update was not forced though.Apart from that there are some security background updates going on. Not sure how many of you go that. But I am guessing that such version was being used in my case. I have auto updated the phone version. It can get auto updated unelss you have updates disabled.

Is it true that Microsoft had issued a statement purporting that Windows 10 is their last operating system to be released? The implication to that statement is that Microsoft will cease to be in the software industry particularly the operating system of computers. I wonder if Windows 10 will suffice for all the progress and development of the computing industry. But if that is really true then that is good for the users because there is no more need for upgrades. As the saying goes, why fix it when it ain’t broke.
