Hello all. You may have heard about Hatchimals by now? They are the most wanted, hottest and most trending kids toy right now and are high up on most kids wish list (apparently).
Well I'm just wondering whether any marketers here have jumped on the Hatchimals band wagon craze yet in any way?
We're seeing many new Hatchimal affiliate sites up and many blogs blogging about it and trying to rank high for it so they can get some affiliate commissions from all those parents!
And they are selling on places like eBay and Amazon for upwards of $300+. Actually, some people are selling Hatchimals on eBay for between $5-8000 dollars!!!
That is insane!! Insane insane!
Just look at some of these listings for Hatchimals for sale now on eBay (US eBay).
And it's the same for eBay UK as well with Hatchimals selling for £2000 or more!
The crazier thing? If you filter by sold, these are actually selling for £500 to £2000.
As you can see, some of them are listed at up to $8,000! $8,000 US dollars for a toy! Sure it's a new sort of toy on the market that isn't like anything seen before. But it's also very over highly rated! It's marketed to have 3 stages of life. So it'll come as an egg first and you'll have to persuade it to peck its way out of the egg by rubbing it. Then it will be a baby and you'll have to talk to it and play with it and it will repeat some of the things you say and that and learn new moves you teach it and that. Then it will reach kidulthood and sing "Hatchy Birthday" song to you and can do other stuff like dance and that and it's meant to take a child a fair bit of time to make it reach the adulthood.
But if you see this post on SuperiorThan about Stores charging up to $300+ for Hatchimals: Where to buy Hatchimals cheap. One mother left her review of the Hatchimal she purchased for her son on Facebook. And here's what she had to say about it.
Thought I would write a review as all Im seeing is parents desperate to get their hands on one. So this one is 1 week old and has been played with for a few hour! The best bit was it hatching and then we had to break it out as it wasn't working! It grew up from a baby to fully grown in a few hours, it doesn't talk it just records the child's voice and plays it back, has a few games that are boring and once played they don't want to play again. All you can do is feed it by tilting it forward, stroke it when it gets cold and pat its head if it's scared. Also once you take it out of the box it starts hatching takes around 20 mins to an hour so make sure your children are ready to sit with it and help it hatch. Overall not worth the money. #hatchimal
