Which is your favorite Operating System and Why?

I'm using Windows 10 since about 10 month ago. Previously I used Ubuntu (Linux), a great Operating System (Open Source), which have a lot of stability and a low memory consumption. Also it have big quantity of desktop apps (the majority Open Source) and I'ts updates frequently.

As I have commented at the beginning of the post, now I'm using Windows 10, because I'm developing software for Windows.

I think that is a great OS, in my opinion is the best Operating System developed by Microsoft until now. Some of the features that It posses are:

  • A completely redesigned UI.

  • Low memory consumption.

  • Great performance.

  • Microsoft Edge, the new Microsoft Web Browser (I use Firefox, but I think that Microsoft has done a good job).

  • Cortana, a Intelligent Personal Assistant with a great language recognition system (One of the best).

  • Start Menu fully redesigned with more customization options.

  • Improved battery management.

  • Compatibility with Microsoft Store.

  • Windows Hello.

Also I have been used Windows 7 and Windows XP.

I feel more comfortable with Ubuntu because is Open Source, more customizable, and have more advanced tools for security and network analysis.

Which is your favorite OS?

It really depends on what you need to do honestly, for me i like mac OS and Windows 7. If i wanted to do recording or video editing i would use Mac OS. I love the simplicity of it and the programs like Logic and Final Cut are super easy to adapt to. Mac OS on a solid state drive is unmatched when it comes to speed. Macintosh or Apple computers are the industry standard for the music and video industry. If i had a work setting or a personal setting i would use windows. Microsoft offers the best programs this like Office Suite, the possibilities are limitless when it comes to this software. Word, Excel, Access, ETC work best for windows and have basically no down time. Windows is also best for games and has unmatched abilities in this field. When it comes down to having more software available widows takes the cake. Thanks for sharing...

Yes jkeyz2, it depends on what you need to do. I've never used Mac OS, but it seems a good OS.

Windows Vista is my favourite. I don't use it anymore though. Presently I use Windows 10 as my main operating system, and a variety of others on temporary basis (typically in VMs), especially Lubuntu.

Like you, usually, I have to make use of VMs but in my case, being Ubuntu the main OS to run Windows as secondary OS.

Personally, I like Linux OS, which are very fast, stable, and Open Source. Also can being executed in many type of hardware.

I rarely used Windows Vista, for this reason I have few information about it.

I'm using Windows 10 and I like that fact that it now has a start button. I have to admit that I was stumped when there was no start button. I honestly couldn't even figure out how to turn my laptop off when I first got it. I had to leave it on overnight before I could figure it out.

Call me dumb or whatever but no start button leaves me hanging LOL.

I have only ever used Windows 7, 8 and XP. I quite liked XP.

I recognize that I have had problems with the Start Button but in my case in Windows 8, initially, the OS, looked like designed for a touch screen, in many cases, It was very hard to handle.

XP is fast and have a good performance. A great option to run it in VMs.

I'm still at Windows 7 and I'm sticking to it for the time being. I upgraded to an SSD and I also put in a little more ram memory into my laptop, windows 7 moves like a dream.

I've tried windows 10 and wasn't blown away, yes sure it may an upgrade from 7 but its still the same basic windows underneath.
I already skipped windows 8, I'm pretty sure I'll skip windows 10 also, will go directly to windows 11 when it comes out, maybe but a new laptop to congratulate myself. Until then, I ain't switching.

Windows 7 is a great option, and is still the most used OS.

In some websites it is said that Windows 11, will be released in 2016.

We'll have to wait to see the new Microsoft OS.

I think for work purpose I'd use Windows. As there is no way I can replace those apps and the programs. But in case of home use, I am using the linux OS. And there is going to be more use of the device. As you can see that Linux OS is turning out to be lot better these days. I am considering using the Mac if I get enough money. But so far stuck between the Windows and Linux.

Windows are the best operating system one could wish to make use of, and particularly my preference is windows 7 because it's a lot more better and stable than any other Windows OS ever produced especially Windows 10.

Most of friends where in a haste to upgrade to Windows 10, I wasn't, I still stuck on with my windows 7, only for them to come back and start complaining about the instability of Windows 10.

I have grown to like Windows because that is the only operating system that I have used extensively. My experience with other operating systems are for testing purposes only. And I find Windows XP as a good one that our home desktop is still running on it. But my official computer in the office is a laptop that is running on Windows 7 which is an enhanced version of the Windows XP. Maybe I have to make Windows 7 my favorite for now because there are plans in our office to upgrade all the computers into Windows 10.
