Black Friday. What Does It Mean To You?!

Black Friday, one of the best days for shopping..

Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the United States (the fourth Thursday of November). Since 1932, it has been regarded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season in the U.S., and most major retailers open very early (and more recently during overnight hours) and offer promotional sales.

  • What does it mean to you as a freelancer? (Or as an individual)
  • Do you provide your clients outstanding one time offers?
  • Do you offer insane 90% discount sales?

In Sweden, Black Friday is not something very special at all, but there's a few stores here and there who've begun to have awesome offers during this day, but it's still way less compared to the US..

I personally, usually offer my previous clients something extra during black friday, but I haven't offered new potential clients anything special yet.. Do you think this is something one should be doing? What is so special about this day, in your opinion?

Best Regards,

This is a nice question. As an individual, it means I can get better deals. As a freelancer, it means that I can offer services to customers for cheaper. Even though you may not see the benefits straight away, there are a few important benefits. Firstly, you can encourage new customers to buy your service by providing a discount and secondly, you can encourage past clients to buy your service again providing you with repeat customers.

While, you can provide discounts any time, it may imply that your business is not doing well if you offer it all the time so Black Fridays gives you a good excuse to start offering discounts.

Hi hitmeasap thank for your nice question. It is very popular word nowadays day to get a special discount. First time this name has recorded on 1966 by Earl Apfelbaum. And another name you can tell shopping day. And it is called black Friday due to mass traffic accident and over violation to get such special offer. And usually black Friday means over millions of people thinking for serious shopping with huge discount. And I see in our country most of the large ecommerce base company offer black Friday targeting with bog occasion such as religious occasion and they get people product less than half price. So, for me black Friday means to get product with very low price in a special day with huge discount.

I often do not like to go shopping on Black Friday. I have had several negative experiences, it's so chaotic! There is people literally fighting over items, god forbid if you get the last of an item, you'll literally have people beating you up for it.. it's not worth it! No product is worth getting beat up for, and includes a "Tickle Me Elmo". I only tend to shop online on Black Friday, I refuse to support Black Friday in a physical store, it's too dangerous.

In terms of offering clients special deals on services, I think I would offer 50% off, not 90% off. You should know your worth as a freelancer, sure it would be a nice gesture, especially for a day, but I would tend to not make it a regular thing. But having one day a year where you drastically discount prices could perhaps bring in more clients that you wouldn't have had.

I am commenting on a personal basis. When there is a sale, I don’t usually join the scramble because I value my time and convenience. There was a time that I went to the store that has a big sale where the vehicles are already lining up even 2 hours before the opening. And when I entered the store, all I could see were people that were so dynamic as if there was a calamity and there was a scramble for relief goods. I understand that big discounts that a buyer can save but it’s crazy.
