Has anyone tried the Trusted Contacts option?

There is an option on Facebook that helps you recover access to your account in the event you lose your Facebook account through hacking or just can't login. The idea is to pick three or more very trusted friends who you know on Facebook but also in real life. If you ever can't login, Facebook will send these contacts a code to relay to you. And, once you have collected 3 codes, you can login.

Would they send the code to my friend's email or to their cell phone? If by email that might be a problem as one of my friends doesn't like to get emails but doesn't mind anything sent by phone. It's just a pet peeve he has. Anyway, I would list him as one of my trusted contacts so it's important to know before using the trusted contacts on Facebook option.

I'm sure they would email the person a code, rather than texting it. This might be true, especially if they don't have a cell phone listed. Though you will need to check with Facebook before making a decision about this.

I can't believe that I didn't know that there's an option like this in Facebook. I have to check on it later. But if you think about it, why would you be locked out of your own account in the first place? And if I ever become locked out I would just asked for a password reset and the verification is much simpler, Facebook would just send me a message prompting me to change my password.
