Some of my friends have complained that their accounts were shut down over seemingly flimsy reasons. Just wondering if there is a set of guidelines that determines which accounts get shut down and if possible what reasons are being used for account termination on Facebook.

Facebook can delete your account for any of these reasons:
- No human / names lie / double account
- Use personal profiles for business
- Post content subject to copyright
- Importing too many RSS feeds
- Business Promotion other walls (walls), pages or groups
- Scraping information off facebook in other words, scrape or take information from Facebook
- Add too many friends at once
- Joining too many groups
- Post the same message in too many walls
- Post links (promotional or otherwise) on walls, posts, messages, …
- Send too many pokes (touches) at a time.
- And especially do not do spam social networking is to talk and that includes listening, understanding and sharing.
