I first learned about SEO from a work at home mom forum. Then i started reading SEO ebooks that i found online. And, later found out about Google Webmaster Blog and Matt Cutts.
So much has changed over the years.

I first learned about it when I started doing forum posting jobs. Started working on web design and entertainment topics. Then on one, I came to read a few things about SEO and related topics. Since then, I started working on similar forums. I earn while I learn.

Do you specifically search for the meaning of SEO on Google Search? Or you just accidentally found it on the search results?

And, if you did search SEO you might or might not find relevant results as both useful wiki style sites on the subject of SEO as well as SEO companies are ranking for that search term. And, the SEO companies are not interested in educating you as to how to do your own SEO.

Yeah. Besides, I don't think a normal internet surfer first learn about SEO after searching the abbreviation online. We all know that these people care less on SEO, right? It's definitely that you might have read it somewhere or a guy told you about it.
