Write your main topic down on a page. Next, identify associated words and concepts that would help explain your main topic. Include any synonyms or related words. These words will become the basis of your keyword list. Not every word on your list will be popular or well searched but they could be included to help explain your subject better to your reader.

You can use a source such as Google trends to research your chosen topic. This tool is free to use and will suggest many possible keyword combinations you have not thought about before.

This is a good starting point for an article, but a little vague. You will want to refine your keywords to something that will actually have chance of ranking well. Also, Google trends is ideal to use if you have a news or topical site, not so much for evergreen articles.

One possible way to identify possible keyword combinations that you might want to use is to visit Google and make a search for your number one keyword. For instance, let's say you are writing an article about 'holistic remedies'. As you type that in the search bar, you will be given other possible keyword suggestions in the dropdown menu. Just remember to search for something more generic first to allow Google the chance to complete your sentence.

You can also use a close variation of the most important profitable business keyword. It will pay the same I guess!

First of all you should have an idea on the topic you are going to write. For example, you may want to write an article about growing tomatoes indoors. Once you have the idea, you should do keyword research. Google Keyword Planner Tool is the most relaiable tool. It is also free to use. Go to the Google Keyword Planner and type your keywords based on the topic your possible keywords and keyphrase can be:
growing tomatoes
grow tomatoes
growing tomatoes indoors
ways to grow tomatoes
The tool will show search hits for the keywords you searched as well as related keywords. Choose a keyword that gest more than 500 hits but less than 5000 hits. Use those keywords in the article.

I have come across so many discussions with the same subject as this. Keywords seem to be mysterious because there are no hard and fast rules in selecting the right keyword. My take is to use the keyword of your choice. At least you made the decision instead of using tools to tell you what keywords to use when in fact there is no guarantee that the suggested keyword will work well to your purpose.
