If you suddenly stopped ranking

Let's say that one of your websites suddenly stopped ranking, and you found out the problem had to do with bad backlinks. Would you try to fix the problem by removing the backlinks or would you just start another site?

I would try to find out why my site was not ranking anymore or what happened.

Why would I just give up so easily? I don't think anyone would though, considering all the time and money that goes into a website. You can't just start over.

Of course I will try finding and getting rid of the problem! Otherwise you will always start from the beginning every single time and you won't achieve anything! ;)

Unless you are very sure about backlinks creating problem for you, you should not use that disavow tool by Google. It sends wrong message to Google about your website.

That's the problem with bad back links, it's never been effective in the first place, why use them? Bad back links destroys the credibility of any site. To those that are thinking that all traffic is good well, have you ever been interested or bought something whenever you click a backlink that isn't connected to what your currently searching or reading? My advice is to take down all your spam links and spend sometime creating and posting quality links.

That’s a nice question that is food for thought especially for the young adults who create websites like they are changing clothes. And with the bad backlinks, I guess it is more difficult to remedy the problem. It’s not easy to delete those backlinks that you scattered because the effort you made in spreading those backlinks will be the same effort you need to remove them. In that case, it is better to create a new website and let that bad one stagnate to death.
