    I was able to find 56 backlinks from other sites, which is not so bad. Though I'd love to have 1000 backlinks like some sites.

    If your 56 backlinks are of high quality then I don’t think it cannot be matched by the 1,000 backlinks that are not quality. Backlinks is all about quality and not quantity that’s why it is always advised to be selective with the site where you will post your backlink. You do not post your backlink in any site because a low quality backlink will not good to your site and probably harm it instead.
