If you can get a backlink that is within a paragraph of information that would probably be better than just getting a single anchor text link back. That's because Google can (or will be able to) look at the text surrounding your link and determine if it's related to what the anchor tag is about and if that is similar to the site being linked to. So basically, the more relevant/related text you can surround your links with, the better your ranking will be. Don't forget to brand your site's name in context of your links too. That way Google begins to associate your site name with your keywords even when they are not hyperlinked. If you can get a backlink that is within a paragraph of information that would probably be better than just getting a single anchor text link back.
