A scary moment with Gmail

About three years ago, my Gmail was hacked (or illegally accessed by someone else). One day I logged into Gmail and got an ominous warning at the top of my Gmail box that said my Gmail account had been accessed from an unknown IP address and that I should check it out. And, sure enough, there was a listing of a strange IP address (located in Florida, which is not where I live). I'm not sure who was looking in my Gmail account but it was a frightening experience.

I don't know how they got into my Gmail. I have a theory but no proof. I changed my password on my Gmail, Paypal and bank account (as my Gmail was the primary email for all those accounts at the time). No other accounts were accessed. So I'm hoping it was just a random occurrence.

I'm not sure if anyone else had this happen but it can be very disconcerting, thinking that a stranger is reading through your emails.

Yes that is very scary. I have never had mine hacked but I think that it is scary when it does happen.

This also happens to me once. Since Gmail is my primary mail service for business related transactions, I immediately reset my password on all connected accounts. Better be safe than sorry.

I think it happened to me too with the Yahoo email. I was online at the time and had not visited my Yahoo account for three days over the holiday weekend. And, Yahoo sent me repeated emails of warnings that someone was trying to access using the wrong password. There was 15 emails. But, they made no attempt to stop the hacker :/

It is truly scary when you feel that you email is being hacked or someone is trying to hack it. There was a time that I got a message that someone had tried to log in to my FB account. I did not waste time and checked my account. I had to change the password just for a safety measure. We really don’t know the science of hacking but for all we know it is improving day by day so our emails are not safe.
