Well, I think that google is still on top of all of the search engines. If you were to compare any of the two out on the web I think that comparing Bing to Yahoo would be the closest to the same anwser. Personally I dont use any of them besides Google.

When yahoo and google partnered, yahoo grew google phenomenally. Back then, yahoo was the #1 site on the Internet though.

From what I can see on his post, he might meant that they were working together before.
But I haven't heard about those partnership.

Yes ! From perspective of yahoo, it will give yahoo company stability and for webmaster it is easy to deal with 2 search engines, rather than 3 !

Bad ! I mean still google is No.1 search engine when I see search engine market share across the globe. According to wikipedia, google has more than 70% of search engine market share, that tell you whole story :)

The reason is simple, you can't predict how bing or other search engine works. There are not many researches on them.

I would agree with later point. But I don't think anybody knows/understand google and it's ranking algorithm fully. :|

I don't think they take it for granted. Most of them ignore it. The reason could be that many internet users don't use it :(

The reason I don't use BING is because it's not on my list of search engines on my toolbar. Is that a valid reason? :P

I think it is good idea for both Bing and Yahoo. After the friendship they can easily increase their popularity and target the visitors.

I guess by returns he is pointing towards returns in time, which you also said is quite high for bing. Also, for getting indexed in bing, there are no clear guidelines ! So, it is much more difficult.

Yahoo was very popular around 10 years before, but Google came with strong idea and it defeated Yahoo..
However, Yahoo is still yahoo, and it didn't lose its uniqueness, it is same as it was before.. but you can see lots of changes in MSN to Bing, changes in home page of Bing frequently, these things don't sound good for Bing, it shows that you are copying others and you are disparate what to do and what not to do..

And, I heard how Bing was copying/stealing Google's search algorithm. It doesn't bode well if they can't make their own algorithm. Rumor has it that angry Google engineers stormed a Microsoft conference and confronted them with proof.

They are not partners in all departments. For example, yahoo finance is still different than bing! :)
