As much as I love listening to my music, sometimes it can be a distraction or nuisance and interferes with my writing, especially when I'm trying to concentrate. For those times, when I want to focus, I turn off all sounds so I can hear myself think and write in peace.

I have used focusatwill.com and it works well while we r doing some task as that is a neuroscience based web tool that uses phase sequenced instrumental music to increase your attention span up while working.

I love listening to music while I write.
It allows my mind to focus, but think freely at the same time.
While I write my stories, especially. I incorporate the kind of music I'm listening to in my writing.
If I'm listening to Louis Armstrong Kiss Of Fire, that is what I will write about. I get into what the characters are doing, where they're going, etc.
On one of the ongoing stories I'm writing, I have Louis Armstrong playing St James Infirmary. Describing "Kate" getting out of the wine coloured 1952 Hot Rod, heading into the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Hearing the music in the background gets me right into the detail of every part of every scene. The smell of the interior, the rumble of the engine, the looks of desire, and so on.
If it wasn't for the music, whose to say what my stories would turn out like...
"I went to Gramma's and we made cookies. They were great. The end"
Yeah, I think that would some it up...lol
