When researching online it might be useful to consult the author's credentials or titles to see if they are actually trained to write about the subject in question. For instance, a current professor of Law at Harvard will have many titles behind his name and his opinion on legal matters is more likely to be credible versus someone who simply researched some issues online for an article. This would be one very good thing to look for when researching to verify the author's credibility.
