Challenges you face as a freelancer

Distractions from my writing are a big challenge for me. But, these distractions are usually only related to things going on online not family related. So now I have begun to block out people and activities that take time away from my work and that includes Facebook or email (not related to work) or other sites which require active participation.

Another challenge that I've been facing is controlling daily expenses even for money spent on household or luxury items. It's not good enough to earn well which I have done and have a decent income; I want to actually make a profit and put money into savings after paying my bills. This is something I'm actively working on.

One thing that I worry about is that the work will dry up. I hope that it never does and will take on extra jobs just to ensure that this does not happen.

It's good that you are trying to diversify as that is the key to earning money as a freelancer.

I think some freelancers might face a lack of confidence and under cut themselves on price to make up for lack of skill or ability or experience dealing with customers. This could seriously hurt a career in the making.

This is something that I have worried about as well but I think that the money will always be there in some way.

This is something that I have worried about as well but I think that the money will always be there in some way.

In my ten years of working at home, as a freelancer and writer, I have seen sites come and go and what I depended on one year was gone the next. Or, that site changed their rules so it made it harder to earn. This was how it was right after Google Panda update happened. It wiped out my earnings from eHow as they were changing their guidelines. And, what had been an easy way to earn just disappeared. This is what happens when you rely on earnings from a site you don't own. At any moment, that money can vanish. I'm not the only one it happened to and some were earning much more than me at the time. I had to revamp, take stock of my skills and figure out how to earn again. That was some years back, now I'm earning more than then. And, only see it getting better from here.

I've gotten knocked down quiet a few times in ten years, but I always get right back up and go on and make it work for my family. I don't complain or gripe or feel bad or blame others. I learn what I can from the experience and feel thankful for the opportunities I have.

My biggest challenge is the opinion of people close to me. They are mostly against my freelancing work for reasons of quality time. It's not nice to hear from them that I am spending time in the internet to earn coins. That I'm earning big money from my office job, they are wondering why I still have to take a part time work. It's difficult to justify my goals to them.

The first problem I encounter when I came on board was the low payments it was just too far away from the bogus stories I was told in my different seminars.Sometimes one has to work more to even get to each site threshold which nobody mentioned in the course of hyping online earning.

My major challenge is how to get into the high earning sites especially as my demographic is always excluded from most sites.

That’s also one factor that is discouraging when you live in Asia because there are sites and micro jobs that are not applicable to us. Take for instance Bing Rewards which is a nice one for earning extra money because you have to do nothing except to use the search engine and you will earn points. But Bing Rewards works only for residents of the US and it’s sad for the Asians like me.
