What's your biggest disappointment as a freelancer?

So far, no really huge disappointments when working as a freelancer. Though I wish I were more organized. I like to find a system for my work. It helps me to stay on track. What are some of your common disappointments when working as a freelancer?

When people misunderstand my work and think I can provide impossible feats for almost no money. I don't work like that and neither should any professional freelancer.

I wasted so much time on other things before I learned about doing freelance work. I didn't realize you could actually get paid for many of the things I was just giving away to friends.

That the money is not always guaranteed to be there.

Yes Brownie that is a very valid point that many freelancers might think of.

That the money is not always guaranteed to be there.

With freelance work, it helps to establish repeat customers and this can be done through SEOClerks or if you are working independently in your own business. The advantage of repeat customers or someone who buys a service from you regularly is that you will always be guaranteed a specific sum of money every week or month so long as you do the services requested. Many of my current freelance projects come from former customers who are ordering again. It's very good money and easier work as I'm already familiar with their site and needs.

I'm constantly disappointed that my family doesn't take my freelancing career seriously and thinks it's a hobby.

Not working for the peanuts. You heard this right.
When I was starting, I disagreed to work on low paying jobs. I did not write a 500 word article for $2, I did not ghost write an ebook for $20.
When I disagreed to work for low paying jobs, I did not get enough jobs, I could not build my reputation. If I had worked on low paying jobs, I would have made a slowly but steady progress.

My main line is content provider for forums. I had this sad experience of receiving a very unfair rating due to an accusation that I am innocent of. Until now that killer rating is affecting my average and reputation as well. That's a neat lesson to be careful with forums.

I have also been rated very low on a certain forum. When I saw the new forum, I joined and created 5 posts. Two days later, I received a 2-star rating with the message " we did not want a poster using English as a second language." The rule was written nowhere, if I had seen that rule I would surely have avoided joining the site. Because of that rating, muy average rating dropped substantially.

My biggest disappointment is that I've wasted and still wasting a lot of time on scam sites. It's because I have to try it to know if it's legit or not. And most of the time it would be a scam site.
