I think it can be better for all the community if there are some changes on the featured services.

Like that every end of the month there could be a review of the featured services (from admins), and the one that is not selling well go out and leave the place for another new seller. In this way there could be more competition between sellers (so more quality of services) and also more people can have the opportunity to EXPLODE their sales...

At first eyesight of this thread, I was totally against this option. Reviews on featured services from admins, would basically mean that they'll have to use the services themselves. Reviews can't be based upon X-amount of sales during 31 days etc. Especially since this feature has a pricetag of $375. Each seller who purchase this service, will most definitely provide high quality services, otherwise, they'll end up losing money. With that said, you can never know if a service will sell good or not until your try..

However, having said that, upon reading this thread for the second time, I actually think that SOMETHING like this MIGHT be good.. But not in the way you've suggested. Sorry to say, but I don't have any suggestions myself either.. Admins & moderators should "review" lots of services, featured or not, just to keep the marketplace clean and to make sure the services are of high quality, but there's no room for this.. That's why there's a report button and why buyers can leave negative reviews on services. Users on SEOClerks are the ones building the marketplace and the community. Admins and moderators polish it a bit, and make the final tweaks.

That can be just one possible option, maybe there are many others but this one is not so bad.

First: on Seoclerks there are thousands of sellers, and only around 20 have featured services. This means that only 20 are getting big sales, and thousands of other people just crumbs
Second: it's not so hard to calculate the amount of $ sales from everyone, just to make a rank and change the bottom places with new fresh services from new sellers. If one seller sell 500 services of $5 and another seller sell 500 services of $50, both are making more profits than the $375 cost, and probably both have good review, but for Seoclerk page the second one is more profitable to promote than the first. So, in this example, the first can leave his place to a new seller.

It's just my opinion ;)

I honestly think it would be unprofessional by doing things like you've explained. I understand what you mean but I don't agree.

If Seller A completes 500 sales for $5 each in 31 days, Seller B will obviously have made more money by having 500 sales for $50 each.. That said, BOTH sellers bought the feature for $375, which ultimately give them an opportunity to earn money by doing this. They invest money in their business and should because of that, be able to use the feature to it's full potential. Regardless if they lose money doing this or not. It's their money and their decision. Some days you'll get less sales than others.. Some weeks or months will be slow..

If SEOClerks reviewed these services and took away the "least selling" services, I'd be disappointed. And why..?

As stated above. People invest money in their business and they've waited for the feature to become available for them.. If they decide to provide services for $5 and end up with 1 sale during this period, it's still their money, their service and their featured slot. They should have the "upper hand" and the final decision to continue with their featured slot or not. SEOClerks shouldn't decide that.

How about people who's earning money by VOLUME..? They won't stand a chance against "high rollers".. What you suggest would be totally unfair in my opinion. I know all about competition and all that but some people works on SEOClerks fulltime. They make their livings off of SEOClerks earnings.. Would you feel okay with ruining peoples life because they had a "bad month" or can't provide $500 services..?

Sellers who provides services for $1 and $2, are often the MOST active sellers on the marketplace.. Would it be fair to screw them over with a nice "Thank you but GOODBYE!" message, after their first month when they finally managed to grab one of the featured slots and tried to provide a service for $5 instead... because of less sales compared to another service you THINK would end up with more sales?

SEOClerks are a fantastic marketplace. An outstanding community. We, both users, moderators AND staff members are trying to help each other to become more successful, to get more sales, to build reputation etc.. Would SEOClerks help the seller they take away the featured services for..? Would this specific seller feel discouraged if SEOClerks acted this way..? Would SEOClerks ALSO (at least probably) become "famous" for their only interest... Their own earnings..? -Most probably.

Would any of the stated above lead to a better place, for any of us..?

If you intend to do ANYTHING like this at all, a ranking of some sort.. I'd say GIVE people a featured slot for FREE, for 1 week or so, to INCREASE their sales. Change the service after 1 week and let another seller try this feature.. After doing this with TONS of sellers and services, check the rankings and let the user with MOST sales and MOST potential for future orders purchase a featured slot..

However, this would ultimately end up with TONS of featured services, which would destroy the benefits from featured slots. They are unique. They are rare. They a very limited. That's why EVERYONE wants a featured slot.

Another option in case you'd implement something like what I've stated above. Offer people 5-7 days featured slot. And CHANGE the sellers EACH time the feature runs out of time. Just adding 1 extra slot on the first page for these featured services would probably work fine.

I think there are also other thousands of sellers that for months/years are waiting to win the lottery and get a place on homepage. Just take a view of many posts here in the forum about this topic.

But no, who care of them, only the 20 "elected" people have the right to earn thousands of dollars...

About what I wrote before, I think it's not about "Would you feel okay with ruining peoples life", it's just how the businesses works. No feelings, just results and rights and efficiency. The $375 are for 1 month, not for life, so I don't see some changes on the featured services like "ruining peoples life", but like making businesses and promoting the best services.

Personally I don't make my living from Seoclerks, here now I only sell low-quality and cheap services, I don't lose no more time preparing special seo services, wasting hours and days and later see my services forgotten in a inner page. Every time I tried to sell some special services that costs more than $5, I had only lost time because nobody see my services. So now I prefer to sell using other channels, internet is full of them. You can make here some bumps to sell something, but of course it's not a professional way to sell, nor effective.

The homepage of seoclerks get everyday tons of views, it's a very effective way to gain visibility and sell, and this is one of the best peculiarity of Seoclerks (for example fiv err doesn't have it).

And just after to read some messages on this forum, from many "poor" sellers, I came to the conclusion that the featured spots should not be reserved only, always, for years to the same people (some people have 2 and 3 spots!), but it would not hurt finding a way to give other sellers the possibility to grow their business.

Why don't you try to bring traffic on your own. It can help your sales as well.
I am a featured seller and i still bring traffic on my own, i don't depend on seoclerks traffic only. Thank you for this entertaining discussion. I really do like to interact with people & I love to hear other people's suggestions and statements. First of all, I'll admit that I might have "overreacted" a bit previously when talking about "ruining people's lives" however, I do still stand for my statement.

I'm not talking about SEOClerks having 20 users. I do talk about the featured slots, competition and their rights to continue to have the featured slots since they've bought it.

Take a look at "Marthas Grocery Store" at the corner of your building. She's the only worker and owner of the store. It's her business. She's had it for about 20 years. During all this time, she most definitely had her ups and downs. Days, weeks and months where she's earned way more than the next etc.

Her landlord, the owner of the whole building haven't kicked her out because McDonald's should take her spot. Even though McDonald's probably will make more money and pay a larger monthly fee to the landlord for the rental of the space.. See where I'm getting at?

The same goes for SEOClerks. It's business, just like you've stated yourself. In my honest opinion, SEOClerks should PAY the featured sellers for their slots, in case they want NEW users having it. It's still the users slots, since they've bought them, and they should be allowed to have 2 sales during this time, if that's what they'll end up with at the end of the month. Without being "kicked out" from the featured slots.

SEOClerks have 480,336 users in total at the time I write this. I know all about competition, just like I previously stated. I know the featured slots are EXTREMELY attractive. I know most sellers would want them.. It's a fact. Having your services featured will most definitely bring you more sales.. But, with that said, it would still be unfair to "kick" sellers from the featured slot based on sales. Especially since it's not listed anywhere at all, that a featured slot requires X-amount of sales minimum, to continue the next month.

So basically, I'm still against this specific option. With all this said, sellers having 2 or perhaps even 3 slots are quite much. However, it's business once again, so these users are playing smart. They make great moves. Using several slots makes it harder for their competitiors to gain sales which automatically brings more revenue for themselves..

I do however, still think that something like what I suggested in my previous post would work:

[Service 1] - Always shows as featured. $375 investment. If that seller wants another slot, they could make [Service 2] - Slide between Service 1 and Service 2, using the same featured slot. For perhaps a little less investment or the same.

So basically, the services you want to feature, shows as a slideshow between your services, using the same featured slot, like this:
[Featured Service 1] Shows for 5 seconds.. After that [Featured Service 2] Shows for 5 seconds.. Then back to [Featured Service 1] again, which will show for 5 seconds again.. And repeat. ( [Service #1] --> [Service #2] --> [Service #1] --> [Service #2] --> [Service #1] etc. )

That would definitely give other users a higher chance of getting a featured slot too, and it would benefit both users and SEOClerks when talking about revenue.. How this would affect peoples sales is hard to tell, but I honestly think it's quite a cool idea.

If that seller wants another slot, they could make [B][Service 2][/B] - Slide between Service 1 and Service 2, using the same featured slot. For perhaps a little less investment or the same. So basically, the services you want to feature, shows as a slideshow between your services, [B]using the same[/B] featured slot, like this: [B][Featured Service 1][/B] Shows for 5 seconds.. After that [B][Featured Service 2] [/B]Shows for 5 seconds.. Then back to[B] [Featured Service 1][/B] again, which will show for 5 seconds again..[B] And repeat. [/B]( [Service #1] --> [Service #2] --> [Service #1] --> [Service #2] --> [Service #1] etc. ) That would definitely give other users a higher chance of getting a featured slot too, and it would benefit both users and SEOClerks when talking about revenue.. How this would affect peoples sales is hard to tell, but I honestly think it's quite a cool idea. Regards, hitmeasap
