A hello post is one where the new forum member posts an introduction to the community. And, a goodbye post is one where they say goodbye when they are planning to leave. Though hello or introductory posts are common, the goodbye posts are not seen as much. What are some advantages to allowing a forum member to post a goodbye to the community if they are planning to leave? What are the drawbacks?

If the person were on forum for a few years and had to leave, then I would let them make a formal goodbye statement so long as their reason for leaving had nothing to do with my forum.
