Running out of ideas for forum posts

As a sci fi forum owner, I never run out of new ideas for forum posts as there is always some new development in the sci fi movie or book niche. It's fun to read all the latest blog articles about this niche and post relevant, related threads on my own forum. But, maybe it's not so easy for other niches which don't have a ready supply of recent industry/niche news. Is it hard to come up with new ideas for forum posts on your own forum? Do you ever run out of ideas for forum posts?

I keep a pen and notebook with me all the time to write down ideas that come to me. These ideas might become blog entries or forum posts. This way I never run out of ideas and always have something to talk about.

Look at industry news for your niche and create commentary posts based around these, linking back to the original source.

Think about your favorite sci fi movies and TV shows and write about those. Everytime you watch a favorite episode of your sci-fi TV shows, write something down about that episode and post it to your forum. In this way, you are sharing a little bit of your own real life personal experience with sci fi, not just generic questions concerning the sci fi niche.

Check out other sci fi forums and see what they are posting about and this should inspire your own discussions. Though I would not recommend that you copy anyone else's forum, just allow the discussions to inspire your work.

Start a FAQ section on your forum for most frequently asked questions which any new person in the niche would face. This section will be a very reliable source of input as new members reading the section post discussions asking for help and more veteran members post responses.

And, this is why you need active forum members, or the entire burden is on your shoulders. Your forum shouldn't just be about you. It's a collaboration effort.

It's very tough keeping a forum open by yourself, if you have no one else posting on forum and also a very lonely and isolating experience. And, maybe this is one of the reasons forums shut down as the owner just can't take it anymore.

For a forum owner, I guess you should be the first one to have ideas for new threads because the them is your idea in the first place. With science-fiction as an example, I guess you are right with the overflowing topics because my husband has a sci-fi blogsite and he said that he has a long list of stories to write (although he had lost time to make updates). It's too bad if the forum lingers for a day or 2 with no new topics created, it would look like stagnating. In such cases, the admin/owner or the mods should come to the rescue.

I do not own a forum site but I do participate a couple which I find that the forum owners are facing lack of ideas. Hence, they asked me for ideas or help to create new forum threads. Like the old saying two heads are better than one. Indeed, different and more people with different ideas would help the forum sites to flourish and keep going.
