Should you log out of the forum when you leave?

When you are ready to leave your favorite forum, do you always log out, so that others can access your account via your computer? Or, do you shut the tab down without logging out so you will be logged in the next time you access the forum?

If you are admin or owner of your forum, you should always sign out of your forum account when leaving the forum. That way if your laptop or computer is stolen or illegally accessed, another person won't be able to get onto your forum user account and make changes that could damage your forum.

Yes if you are on a public computer. On your home computer I do not think that it really matters.

On a public computer you really need to be logging out. On a private one, it is not that big of a deal.

That really depends if another person is going to access your computer. I myself do not see any chance that anyone will access my laptop accept me so I never logout out any websites, it's simply more convenient that way.

Karoshio

I agree. I am the only one that has access to my computer so I do not see a point in logging out each time.

Usually I will just stay logged into all my sites, allowing my computer to accept cookies and remember login details. That way I don't have to enter my login each time. But that has actually backfired on me. Once a computer that I owned was taken from a storage locker and someone accessed my Gmail and maybe other accounts. It was a scary experience. And, a friend of mine had his laptop stolen by someone he knew. The guy who took the laptop stole his gamer accounts and shut down his Skype account and emails. He was able to find the passwords stored on a text file on the computer drive and most of the accounts were set to automatically login. Now I'm wondering if I should save login details.

I never do because I only access forums from my home computer.

I don't tend to log out as my account is only being used on my private laptop so nobody would really be able to get in so I don't see the need for me to constantly log in and out when I am on my website. If I am on a public computer then I will log out but when I am just using my personal one, I don't really care.

Today, my forum made me login again. I don't know why I'm not already logged in there.

Mine does that to me every now and then but I tend to get used to it since it doesn't happen too often.

Recently, I used CCleaner, but I have it set to not erase cookies. Maybe it has something to do with my forum settings. I will check it out.

To be honest, I don’t log out on any forum that I visit regardless if it’s an old forum or a new forum. And when the forum logs me out, my browser would be supplying my user ID and password. I admit that I sometimes forget my password so maybe that is my reason for not logging out. And I don’t see anything wrong with that. Is there?
