Should problem members be given a second chance?

If a problem member asks for a second chance on your forum and promises to behave, should you give them a second chance? Or, are you asking for trouble?

I say everyone deserves a second chance. But just be on your toes and if they mess up then right away you must deal with it.

I say everyone deserves a second chance. But just be on your toes and if they mess up then right away you must deal with it.

And, some people might be looking for a second chance to get back in and cause trouble one last time. That could ruin a forum's harmonious atmosphere.

Use your best judgement. Sometimes tempers flare, even with the best behaved people. If the situation got out of hand, you might consider giving the person a second chance. If the person wasn't a trouble maker before the incident, then it's possible the incident will not happen again.

Unless the erring member is suspected of doing more damage in the future, I think it is only right to give him another chance. Sometimes a person gets too focused on a particular issue that he loses his manners in driving home his point. That situation leads to suspension or worse, a ban. But if there is clear remorse then there is no reason to decline a plea for reinstatemen of the membership. Always remember that a member is an asset of the forum.
