Should you ask another forum owner to admin/mod your site?

A very good source of admins/mods are other forum owners as they have first hand knowledge of how to run a forum and are not coming to the job as a novice. However, some forum owners might protest, thinking they won't devote the time to the staff job as needed or will pay too much attention to their own forum. I think it could be a win-win for both forum owners though, especially with cross promotion possibilities. Please share your thoughts on this idea.

I think it is a good idea. As long as you make yourself clear on what is expected of them and how much time they should spend on the site, it is a nice idea.

If they can handle both and are willing to dedicate themselves to your site then yes. But if your forum comes second then no I would not recommend it.

If they can do it right there is not a reason why you should not. But if it is a similar site to yours, then I would have to say no.

That is a good point. That way there is no way that their site will get some of your info, etc.

First of all most of other forum owners will not moderate your site. They will agree only if your forum have high traffic than his/her forum. But they can spam your board with their site link by sending pm to members. So there is a risk.
Better try to do it yourself or hire some peoples to moderate your forum Or make mod to some of your active members...

I think it is best not to have someone who already has a forum do this. They surely will spend more time on their site and not as much on yours.

It depends on the situation. I know of a forum owner who has friends in the industry that he is in that he is comfortable with other forum owners and admins. In that case, maybe it is all right to seek the help of another forum owner or admin to help in the management of your forum. But I guess you need to be ready with some remunerations because a forum owner is not an ordinary staff.
